The Brewers can erase a lot of the bad memories of this week with a win today.

Overall the Cardinals aren’t quite as adept at hitting the sinker, Adrian Houser’s feature pitch with a 54% usage rate, as other playoff teams like the Giants and Dodgers. The Cardinals hitters that have mashed sinkers this season are Dylan Carlson (.348 BA / .551 SLG), Harrison Bader (.359 BA / .563 SLG), Paul Goldschmidt (.328 BA / .541 SLG), Tyler O’Neill (.326 BA / .500 SLG), Edmundo Sosa (.396 BA / .547 SLG). The Cardinals have several other hitters that are well below average versus the sinker this year including Edman, Arenado, and Yadi.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Looks like a Sunday getaway lineup. Yelich is batting 3rd...

Taylor in place of Garcia, and Pina starting for Narvaez. Otherwise all the regulars. Taylor needs reps, and Pina is hitting much better than Narvaez of late. How is that a getaway lineup? No JBJ, Jace or Reyes to be seen.

With Wainwright’s highest usage pitch being his curveball (thrown 35% of the time), at least the Brewers have 3 of the top 50 MLB hitters against curveballs this season:

Brewers hitters versus curveballs

Avisail Garcia: .294 BA / .634 SLG

Willy Adames: .222 BA / .593 SLG

Eduardo Escobar: .233 BA / .581 SLG

Unfortunately it appears Avi isn’t in the lineup today.

Mostly just a jab at Yelich batting 3rd again. Maybe should have gone blue

I get it, but at some point you just gotta play the hand you're dealt and hope for a little luck. At this point expecting Yelich to snap out of his season-long funk may very well be a fruitless endeavor, but if he does find a way to heat up, it makes this team all that much scarier come playoff time. And Yelich is still getting on base at a solid clip, which tells me that opposing teams are still accounting for him in the Brewers' lineup.

Interesting that the Cardinals best players are able to play 4 days in a row without rest, including their 100 year old catcher.

If the Brewers were still fighting for post-season positioning I'm pretty certain they would be riding their studs more. No need to with the way things currently stand. Not sure why some here refuse to understand that

The Brewers are 99.9% locked in to their playoff position. The Cardinals are not. Not that these games shouldn't mean a lot to the Brewers, but they mean infinitely more to the Cardinals.

Well, I am quite certain that the results of the games in the last week or so are among the least important results for a mid-September game since 2004 or so.

I would clinch first and rest later, but I guess that’s just me. Especially when it’s a game that’s worth twice as much as a win over the Mets.

With only 10 games left and a slumping offense, I would be concerned that it might not be that easy to flip a switch and pick up wins in the final week if it isn’t wrapped up before then.

If the one player who has produced more offense than any other in the lineup this week is physically unable to play 4 days in a row without injuring himself again, the Brewers have another problem to worry about.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Alright should be safe watching this game and partaking in the IGT. Afternoon game, on Youtube...should be calm in here.

Hopefully we win so everyone can back off the ledge.

Pretty sure everyone would be thrilled with the situation if you said it was going to happen like this back in May.

I'm just amazed at how few people are taking this slump seriously. Clinch the division and then they can rest whoever they want but don't forget that we havent clinched.

8.5 game lead

10 games left

I'm equally amazed by how many people are seemingly freaked out by the idea of this team potentially not winning the Central.
