These are the Cardinals back end starters continuing the Brewers hitting slump. The good ones come tomorrow and Thursday.

Only Thursday.

Mikolas is a good pitcher who’s rounding into form as he returns from an injury. He’s coming off 6 shutout innings against the Padres last week.

And he’ll be going against the Brewers number 6 starter makimg his first appearance after an injury.

Advantage Cardinals.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

This team hits more infield pop ups than Willie Mayes Hayes.

I'd like a roll call of members who don't understand this reference please...

No googling it either!

I know it's easy to say but if you play decent defense and limit the walks the Brewers struggle to score.

I wish there was a stat to correlate it to.

Yeah I think you’re right although I don’t have any stats to back it up. Just seems like the Brewers have a tough time stringing together a bunch of runs unless there are walks and errors involved. Hence, why they scored a bunch of runs in Cleveland for example (errors).

That stat would be wins vs losses.

C'mon folks, is it really shocking to correlate a team that plays good defense and limits walks is tough to score on - for anybody? That's pretty much a description of why the Brewers have over 90 wins on the season already themselves.

Then on Sunday, the game we attended, the Cubs handed the Brewers runners on errors, walks, and a hit batter, and the Brewers response was double plays.

Some part of that might be the ballpark they play in. According to Statcast since 2019 this is where Miller Park/AmFam Field ranks overall across MLB in the following hit type categories:

Singles (24th)

Doubles (25th)

Triples (15th)

Home Runs (10th)

I don’t really put a lot of stock in how we get there from here on out. We’ll secure the division soon enough, and likely the #2 seed. Beyond that and good health, not much matters, because the playoffs are a different beast. The sample sizes are small and the results are flukey, I mean, Orlando Arcia is a playoff monster. Craig Counsell has an LCS mvp on his resume.

So what is happening right now really doesn’t matter at all. I’ve seen “Craigtember” and it was fun, but it didn’t yield a title. I want the parade, and I’m not seeing anything that tells me that’s impossible.

we are 9-6 in our last 15 games. 2/3 from the phils, 2/3 from the Cards, a sweep of the Indians, dropped 2 to the Tigers and we took 2/3 from the Cubs. We have lost *2* games in a row. I know everyone wants that clincher, but there's nothing going on here other than a regular couple games where the offense scuffles a little bit.

It's mostly a reaction to who we are playing.

It’s entirely a reaction to who the Brewers are playing and how that team is playing.

And the fact that the Brewers still have five more games against that team.
