On the subject of runs by inning, I don’t think anything would help the Brewers out of their offensive doldrums than getting 2 or 3 runs in the first or second inning. That might help the hitters relax and concentrate on putting the ball in play instead of trying to hit the big home run.

 

For the last week the Brewers haven’t been able to string hits together, so most of their runs have come on solo HRs or with the aid of a lot of walks served up by Cubs pitchers.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

And horrific defense by Cleveland.

 

Sadly true. We can strike 'em out and sometimes hit 'em out. But there's not a lot of old (or new) school "fundamental" NL baseball.

 

And I'm kinda sad that Yelich is not in the lineup. Not because it's a bad move, but because it isn't. OK. Uek is talking. PLAY BALL!

 

 

 

And yeah, I'm no "fundamental" baseball expert, but it seems like "hit it where they ain't" and play solid defense in part of it. But there's a really good reason I'm not the manager. So let's go with what we've got.

The Cardinals aren't that good. The only thing they do well is win.

Well they were below .500 as recently as August 9th, so I guess they’ve lost a few times as well.

They're winning when it matters the most. Something they usually do.

 

We’ll see if they can sustain it. People were saying the Yankees were headed to the World Series after they won 10 in a row.
