2021-09-20: Cardinals (Woodford) at Brewers (Peralta) [Brewers lose, 5-2 -- Cards extend winning streak to 9 games]

Eye Black
For whatever reason the Cardinals have had Freddy’s number. They have a combined .918 OPS in 104 plate appearances against Peralta, including 6 home runs (two apiece for Arenado and Goldschmidt). Hopefully that trend reverses a bit tonight.

What am I missing here? The stats linked in the original post show batters are 24 of 95, or .252. However, the stats at the bottom show a batting average of .307. The on-base pct of .449 seems impossible based on that. Add in walks and they are 33/104, for a .318 average. Freddy would have had to hit about 30 or 40 of them to get to .449, right? If I am making some colossally stupid error, I apologize in advance. But the numbers would suggest a OPS closer to .790 than .918.

Freddy's last start against STL was his first after coming off the IL. 2IP, 4 runs. Freddy's other start against the Cardinals this year, he went 7 IP with 1 hit, 1 BB, and 8 Ks. That makes me feel a lot better about tonight.

Those numbers have been wrong for a while. Like most of the year I think.

Yeah, you’re correct. Something is definitely off there. I’ll see if I can figure it out later, I guess that’s what I get for trusting ESPN.

Glad to see Yelich moved down. He’s been…fine…this year but he’s had enough ABs since 2019 to show he doesn’t fit at the top of the order when this team is at full strength.

Especially against lefties……..I won’t be surprised if he is in the 2 or 3 spot vs righties……but with everyone back maybe not.

This will undoubtedly be a game where runs are hard to come by for the Brewers. They just haven’t hit lefties all year. Hopefully Freddy is on his game tonight.

I have a feeling they’re going to put up some runs on Lester tonight. A lot of positive energy flowing coming into this one with the return of both Willy and Avi. Also, Escobar is better against LHP.

Not just “at Night” anymore.
