ACL Brewers Gold Defeats ACL Brewers Blue 3-1 in Season Finale

The Gold team took a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning (in part thanks to two errors) and the Gold team only had one runner reach 2nd base in the 7-inning affair (Luis Medina, who tripled and scored in the 4th).

The Gold team ends with a 27-24 record and the Blue squad finished up 21-33.

18-year old Catcher Blayberg Diaz (Venezuela) – 2-3, 1 SB, ending a fine season with a .770 OPS

20-year old OF Alwinson Valdez (DR) – 2-3, 2 SBs

18-year old Venezuelan OF Luis Medina (Venezuela) – 1-2, 3B, walk

23-year old IF Drew Smith (USA) – 1-2, RBI

20-year old IF Daniel Castillo (Venezuela) – 1-2, ending year with an .842 OPS (after struggling in Low-A earlier in the year)

20-year old OF Oswel Leones (Venezuela) – 1-3, ending season with solid .790 OPS

19-year old IF Jesus Parra (Venezuela) – 1-3

20-year old 1B Jesus Chirinos (Venezuela) went 0-3 today, but was terrific this year - .890 OPS

19-year old, 13th round 1B/P Quinton Low (USA) didn’t bat, but ended with an .825 OPS in 26 PAs (.500 BABIP though)

19-year old OF Eduarqui Fernandez (Venezuela) threw out a runner at 1st base

18-year old 12th round Caden Vire (USA) started for Gold – 1.0 inning, zero runs, 2 Ks

20-year old Fernando Olguin (Mexico) earned the win – 4.0 innings, 1 ER, 3 Ks. Olguin certainly opened some eyes with strong work in ACL this season: 2.87 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 8.6 K/9 in 31.1 innings

19-year old Ramon Carrasco (Mexico) got the save – 2.0 innings, zero runs, 0 Ks

19-year old Edwin Jimenez (Venezuela) took the loss for Blue – 4.0 innings, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 Ks. His peripherals in ACL have been decent after being promoted from DSL mid-season: 5.25 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 10.1 K/9 in 24.0 innings

19-year old Mario Perez (Mexico) was solid for Blue in relief – 2.0 innings, zero runs, 2 Ks

Oddity: 4 runs were scored in the game, but there was only 1 RBI

20-year old Israel Puello (DR – one of 3 young pitchers acquired from Phillies in September 2020 for David Phelps) was slowed by injuries, but pitched well: 4.94 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 12.2 K/9 in 27.1 innings
