I’m not sure what is sadder, Yelich’s ABs or JBJ’s obligatory pinch hit appearance. On the one hand, JBJ is just pathetic. I mean, nobody even tries throwing anywhere but right down the middle, and he still can’t do anything with it. With Yelich, though, the sad part is remembering what he used to be not that long ago. When either of them comes up to bat, my feeling of ennui is about the same.

Cardinals 2-run HR from Tyler O’Neill to take a 3-2 lead in the 8th inning.

Speaking of dumpster fire bullpens the Padres have one. Darvish with 7 shutout innings and Pagan gives it away.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Also, the Padres (Tatis Jr. and Machado) were yelling at each other in the dugout an inning earlier.

Feels like the rest of the National League Wild Card chasers would end up allowing the Cardinals to grab a playoff berth. Brewers will have some say in that with the seven upcoming head-to-head matchups.

Cards win again.

No division clinching until Monday at the earliest.

Unless the Brewers win both tonight and tomorrow it will probably take two wins in that series to clinch. The Padres are not likely to help.

The Padres are absolute crap right now. Wow.

No way Tingler keeps his job. They've had some pitching injuries, but still should not be this terrible.

Bill Bergen in 1909 hit .139 in 346 ABs

Lowest since 1909 is Adam Dunn .159 in 415 ABs (same as Bellinger right now)

Bill Bergen had a .319 OPS. OPS. ANd had a 1 OPS +

For all the ineptitude JBJ has put together at the plate, he's still sporting a relatively robust 35 OPS +
