Such a great season, but 3-10 against DET, MIN, and KC with one to play is a real puzzle. I guess going 12-5 (eventually 15-5) against LAD, SF, and SD helps mitigate.

There's a very simple answer/reasoning for this: Baseball.

There's just too much in terms of who the pitching matchups are, which players are hot, which players are in slumps, which players are injured, what the umps are calling balls and strikes, what the weather is, and just plain luck/randomness that makes any individual game unpredictable. That's why the season has to be as long as it is in this sport.

It’s a bit weird, but they also went 5-1 against the two best teams in the AL Central (Chicago and Cleveland), so I think you just shrug your shoulders and chalk it up to being baseball.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Rex Manning day?

Anyone else try to get the free tickets given away at 10am? Any of you get through? That experience was poor. Got in, selected tickets, went to pay...it hung up, spinning mitt logo...finally timed out as "an unexpected error occurred." What was the unexpected part? That a lot of people would be trying to get tickets?

Sounds a lot like what it was like trying to get tickets for the Ryder Cup when they went on sale two years ago. I was willing to pay what were already high face prices, but having an experience like that soured me on the whole event.

At least you aren’t seeing the Brewers tickets being listed on the Brewers official ticket exchange for a couple of times face value while you are still online waiting to move up in the official queue.

I think all of the procedures for the Ryder Cup online sale was more of an effort to develop a mailing list of people interested in the event than to sell tickets. Most of them were probably already committed to brokers.

The Brewers situation probably just reflects a system that wasn’t prepared to handle the demand.

Whether it’s “just baseball” or not, I still think it’s strange that 3 decidedly sub .500 teams from one division can account for 9% of the Brewers games played but 18% of their losses. The Royals and Twins have more wins against the Brewers than the Cubs have managed in 13 tries.

I think there is a little bit of lack of focus behind some of these losses. Like the sloppy defense in the Royals games and the last Twins series being sandwiched between high profile series against the Reds and Giants.

Maybe having Monday and Thursday off prompts the players to mentally take the whole week off, leading to lethargic games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Like the last game in the Giants series it looks like the players are anxious to get the game over so they can head home.

Maybe they can get a quick 1-0 win.

*sad trombone

Or a quick 2-1 loss.

This inning is going to shorten Woodruff’s day.

Reminder that with Willy Adames, the Brewers are averaging 5.2 runs per game (4th best in the majors). Without Adames, the Brewers are averaging 3.8 runs per game (2nd worst in the majors).

That’s kind of simplistic. Adames didn’t play last week and the offense was fine.

This is just crappy hitting.
