Calm down Straw. Good call.

Good zone by this ump tonight. So many umps penalize when a strike isn't caught in a way that "looks" good despite being a strike. One called strike outside to Narvaez was about the only obvious miss I recall.

Agreed. I appreciate an ump that isn't fooled when a good pitch is caught badly.

Well okay then; nice to know I can ignore you and your laughable takes.

My take that I no longer enjoy the game as I did when I was a youth due to pitch counts (today's example), 7-inning doubleheaders, and other changes is laughable? Good grief. Has nothing to do with their success this season, I just don't enjoy watching the game as much as I did when I was younger.

The game changes like every other sport. That is literally the history of the baseball. Read some Bill James.

Yup. Absolutely. I just don't enjoy watching it as much as I did 20 years ago.

Well, another win. Things are starting to click between the defense, pitching and hitting. at least this gives the CY young voters something to consider if burnes does finish first in ERA. Otherwise one of the LA guys wins it easily

Outstanding performance by Burnes with a solid assist from Hader.

Would’ve like to see Burnes make it a one pitcher no-hitter. But perhaps not pushing the staff ace beyond limits was wiser. Wonder if the same decision would’ve been made had it been going into the 9th inning with a perfect game still in play.

What I find ironic is a board full of baseball fans being apologists for being denied the experience most every fan dreams about. Yes we all want a World Series but that doesn't mean you have to compromise career and franchise milestones along the way because there's some perceived extra heightened chance a player could be injured. Any player can be injured at literally any time for any reason. It doesn't make sense to cave to fear, at least to me. A championship is as much about the journey as the culmination.

Whatever, I'm just disappointed. I'll get over it. It sure makes me care less about Juan Nieves' no hitter because the Milwaukee Brewers franchise just told me by their actions it doesn't matter.

Also, isn't this like the 8th time the Indians have been no hit this season?

I know its not actually 8, but I think its at least 3 now, right?

Yes, it is 3 times now. Rodon and Miley were the others.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Thank you. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Way back in the 90s I played in over 30 baseball league and the pitcher threw both ends of a double header and I caught both games. I'm guessing he threw somewhere around 300 pitches.

I don't get as excited watching games as I did as a teen either. But I just watched the Brewers pitch a no hitter while standing in front of the TV next to my 12-year-old baseball crazy son, and saw him well up with tears as Omar made that final throw to 1st. Enjoyment evolves as well.
