I never understood under MM they hardly played any preseason and it takes them 3-4 games to start looking like they are on the same page. MLF following in his footsteps.

Would be nice if they figured it out in preseason. *sigh*

Rodgers doesn’t like playing the in the preseason. Rodgers got what he wanted, good and hard.

Ding ding.

Lack of preseason reps wasn't an issue the last two seasons when the Packers went 13-3 & made the NFC Championship Game both years.

What was different this offseason?

[sarcasm]Well, neither season won us a super bowl, so we try something different...[/sarcasm]

Packers went 3-0 to start 2019 & 4-0 to start 2020.

MLF didn't follow in MM's footsteps his first two seasons.

Don’t forget Rodgers skipped mini-camp too. He left some reps on the table.

It’s only game one, but the way the Packers prepare before the beginning of the season, I would never buy any tickets to their first 2-3 games. In a way I understand why Rodgers feels the way he does about the front office. Gutey, Murphy and company are an arrogant bunch of (people).

They were able to win, but still looked out of sync. This year, only a couple of starters touched the field this preseason and then only a few younger placers for a series or two. And the obviously look out of sync. That was about as rusty as I've seen Rodgers ever look.

Do you really believe if the starters played a couple quarters of preseason here and there it would have made a difference? Sorry, I don't.

So this result was to be expected?

Maybe the Packers still don't win this game, but at least they don't look like the Lions.

I think people are really underrating how incredible the Saints defense played. Rodgers simply had no where to throw the entire game. Their man coverage was great and the safeties picked up anything that got open.

Rodgers did look a bit rusty, but even superman Rodgers would have struggled mightily today. Add in some bad turnovers and a horrible defense, things got messy quick.

To compound the problem of MLF holding out the first stringers in the preseason, he wasn't even trying to win those games with the players he was using. This result really shouldn't be surprising looking back on hindsight.

The inner circle HOF franchise icon QB more or less quit on his team before the season even began. This result really shouldn't be surprising looking back in hindsight.

I will add, it is really hard to judge a game that started off the way this one did. It forced the offense to get desperate...going for it when we normally wouldn't and then the long pass INT in total desperation to have something happen. I will give everyone a free pass. If anyone shows up like this next week, yah, throw them under a bus.

Are they five touchdowns underrated?

What really gets me is that they continually draft defensive players high every single year, but they can’t recognize D talent. The D-line has sucked for years, but they never pay much attention to it with their high draft picks. Maybe they should consult with the Ravens, 49ers or Bills scouting staffs next year.

Rashan Gary has yet to prove he’s worth of the #12 overall pick. Even if he turns out to be a stud by the end of the season, the Packers will have exhausted 3 of his 4 cheap years.

He was one of the guys I actually thought looked good out there. I’ll be interested in see his game score.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

It's difficult to tell what we should expect going forward. I think a lot of people underrated the Saints, myself included. They were a good football team last season with a really nice defense and they played really well today. Packers definitely laid a rotten egg though. Even if you had told me before the game started they'd lose I would have expected better than what we saw. I don't want to overreact to this loss but it's hard to not be very concerned right now.

I am sure you even understand this wasn't a 5 TD game. If the Packers wanted to make it close as possible they wouldn't go for it on their own 25 or whatever it was. They wouldn't play Jordan Love in the game. Those things just torpedo it further and make it look even worse than it was.

Give a second contract to an RB and first game out he goes for 9 yards. I like Aaron Jones, but this will prove to be a mistake.

Jones doesn't turn 27 for another three months.

Once the QB buys back into the team concept he should go back to being the game changing weapon who earned that contract as a 5th round pick putting up 4,421 yards from scrimmage and scoring 43 TDs in 54 career games.

He might grade out just fine, but they could have really used a big 3rd (or 4th) down stop from a guy they invested so much in.

He seems like a decent guy and his potential is obvious, but when you pick a non-QB with the #12 overall pick, he needs to be an instant starter. I’ve never liked that pick for that reason.

You’re right. His performance (like much of the team’s) was probably an anomaly. That doesn’t make me any less concerned about his contract.

(Dillon + Williams for 2/$7mm) > (Dillon + Jones for 4/$48 million)
