Game 1: Packers @ Saints (in Jacksonville) - Sunday, September 12th, 3:25pm

I am going to give them a mulligan and hope for better next week. It’s pretty clear not playing guys in preseason didn’t work out so great though.

I'm not saying they need to play more than a quarter or even a drive in some games, but it's pretty stupid to treat early regular season as your preseason. I mean they need some reps.

12 looks like doodoo. He’s bleeding trade value by the throw. [sarcasm]It’s probably all part of his spiteful plan to get back at the front office.[/sarcasm]

I know you’re being sarcastic, but that thought did cross my mind.

Yeah, I’ve often wished we had a “half-blue” option for comments that are in the area of 80 percent sarcasm, 20 percent honest to goodness sincerity. That’s where I’m at with Rodgers right now.

I know this is the popular narrative, but there's no evidence playing a few quarters of preseason helps prepare for the season. I've heard plenty of players say practice is when they get far more done than preseason games.

Well, they obviously weren't ready to play today. I don't know what else it could be?

Then they're in big trouble.

I know this is probably ‘down in the dumps’ me talking, but I feel like 2014 and 2020 were missed opportunities for the Packers. I should lower my expectations. This isn’t their year and it’s probably going to be a long time before they win another one.

Now cue the postgame press conference where Rodgers takes little responsibility for the offensive performance today, and takes a few subtle shots at the game plan and preparation of the rest of the offense.

It’s one game, there was no game speed preparation in the preseason, and so on. That all makes sense. But after the offseason we were all subjected to, I have to think about how every professional relationship will erode if given enough time. It would be nice to paper over it all to make one more magical run, but this isn’t a fairy tale. We’re another game or two of this away from major alarm bells. Heck, if you’re Gutey, and you think there’s any mid season interest in dealing for him, you have to at least consider it if this doesn’t look better post haste. The sooner we know what we have in Love, the better.

Some pretty big overreactions going on here. Is it an awful game all around? Sure is. They’re still a talented roster and will more than likely be just fine moving forward.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Could be anything. Absolutely rolled by the Bucs last year in a game they should have been "up" for. There's always games like this. Or, they're just bad.

You’re right, but I’m so sick of Rodgers’ crap. I can put up with a lot if you at least do your job. But if you’re not even going to perform after all the garbage? What are we even doing?

Wouldn’t be surprising to see. That said, despite the lousy offensive performance, the major concern that I see is the defense being completely manhandled and carved up today, particularly the line and linebackers. When is that going to be fixed? New DC, looks like worse results than last season. (Yes, it’s one game.)

Terrible ruffing call. Happens way too often. How the nfl hasn’t fixed this crap is beyond me.

Then on the blown coverage TD, there left tackle is holding Gary right in front of the ref by Winston.

This shouldn’t be that hard…
