I have Nola on a fantasy team, and he reminds me of the “little girl with the curl”. When he’s good, he’s very, very good, but when he’s bad, he’s horrid. He has occasional dominant games, like when he shut out the Yankees on 3 hits for 8 innings, and when he struck out 10 straight Mets. But his ERA reflects a lot of bad outings.

The Brewers offense has been pretty quiet the last two weeks, especially in the early innings. They could use a quick start against Nola to keep him from getting into one of his dominant grooves.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The pitching matchups in this Phillies series are a little rough.

Just need to avoid getting swept. I don't care if the offense comes through or if Lauer or Freddy twirl a gem.

It would be nice to get tonight's game.

Would be nice, but really not a huge deal if they do get swept.

Garcia back in the lineup

Are we really 0-6 vs the Phillies in 2021?

Not quite yet, they’re 0-5 against the Phils coming into tonight.

Better hope the Braves win the NL East...

Tho we took the series, I felt the Braves played the Crew quite tough as well. It would appear the NL East is our Conference's AL Central. Yuck.

When you only have 5 teams from each league make the playoffs, nobody is going to be an easy out. Compared to the Rockies in 2018, I feel like the NLDS is going to be tougher this time around for the Brewers whether it's Atlanta or Philly.

Only? I remember the days when only two made it.

Agreed...

The Phillies have an awful rotation besides Wheeler, but they finally have a decent bullpen which historically was a problem for them. In a best-of-5 they can use Wheeler twice (assuming they don't need him in game 162 or 163) and try to win a bullpen/multiple starter game. And hope that the opponent is dumb enough to pitch to Harper.

Atlanta is better than their record, they have 4 starters they can confidently use in a postseason series, and they are at least an average offensive team although less scary without Acuña. Plus the experience of a deep playoff run last year.

On paper you want the Phillies, but if they make the postseason it means they played well in September and are coming in with momentum. The best case for the Brewers is that the two teams have to fight it out to the last game and burn their best pitchers doing so.

Lauer has been doing a nice job this season, especially as of late. Feels like he’s picking up momentum when others might be losing theirs a bit. Great to see.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
