Yep, you’re right they should just give up.

LOL what?

I mean, playing for the Wild Card would be the literal opposite of giving up. But that 2nd Wild Card spot is both the Reds and Cardinals only legit shot at the playoffs at that point.

But what real chance do they have against the Dodgers or the Giants?

Likely about 40%

Probably not much on paper. But that's the position both teams have put themselves in. In a one-game series, anything can happen.

Well that was really unlucky. Yelich hit a rocket there

Can't hit it much harder. Would have likely scored three if it got by Goldschmidt. Tough way to end that inning.

Yeah that definitely scores 3 with Cain on first. Tellez's at bat before that was the real killer. If they score to make it 5-2 is Goldschmidt playing that deep with 1 out? Maybe but they could be playing closer for the double play

+1...that was the definition of throwing away an at bat.

This is the weirdest time in my life as a Brewer fan. The results don't actually matter that much, so I'm just latching on to every little thing as a potential playoff indicator. Probably not the way to go...

I do remember 2011 being like this a little, though I never believed the Crew would win until they won. Plus, wasn't it a 5 or 6 game lead until about the second week of Sept.?

If I could fast forward to the point of getting the magic number under 8, I would

They were up 7-10 games in the division from mid-August onward. From July 26 to August 28 they went 27-5 to put everyone else away that year.

I've been wrong a lot lately. Just remember it feeling more precarious to me then.

To be fair, that's part of being a Wisconsin Sports fan. I still don't actually think the Bucks won the 2021 title most days.
