No Flaherty in this series which helps but Wainwright is having a good season and tomorrow’s starter is a tough lefty so I would be very happy with 2 out of 3. At this point, you’re just trying to avoid any major injuries and long losing streaks.

His overall numbers are solid, but if you look at his game log he has pitched against some pretty crummy teams the last 2 months. He has faced the Pirates 3 of his last 4 games with the Brewer game being the other where he gave up nearly 2 runners per inning.

We need to twist the knife on these guys. If not for strategy reasons to keep a notoriously annoying team out of the playoffs, then simply because screw the Cardinals and their world class whiner that plays catcher

I swore loudly at work when I saw he signed for another year. please rid us of your whiny, cheating, temper tantrum self now.

[sarcasm]Come on now. He's one of the most respected players in baseball.[/sarcasm]

Despite being in blue, that's true. Somehow.

Molina is going to make the hall of fame isn’t he

I would have assumed so but looked him up on bref, 10x all star, 8 gold gloves but only 41.7 career WAR. I can't find a HOF catcher with that low a WAR, even Ted Simmons had 50.

Edit: current WAR is identical to Jason Kendell

If he keeps getting gifted AS appearances, no doubt.

He’s at 10…. the same as Molitor and Yount combined. Yount’s last All-Star appearance, only 3 by the way, was 82, not even making it in 89 when he was the MVP.

Yount always got screwed having to compete with Trammel and Ripken every year, especially when he was a better player than Trammel.

Molina's sculpted eyebrows should keep him out of the HOF.

Looks about ready to cry here over a pitch a foot outside that’s called a ball.

So, what’s the expectation for Peralta tonight?

4 or 5 innings depending on how efficient he is and then Ashby or Suter for a couple?

We’ll see if Freddy makes three at this point.

That’s where the “depending on how efficient he is” comes in. 24 pitches in the first inning, including a gopher ball, points to a short outing.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
