2021-08-29: Brewers (Ashby) at Twins (Jax) [Brewers win, 6-2 -- Urias and Tellez home runs lead the Crew; bullpen with another round of scoreless appearances; Ashby notches first career win]

Crazy neither of our trade deadline relievers have done much but our bullpen still looks solid for a post season run

Norris had had 4 scoreless appearances (5 innings) in a row. Trending in the right direction.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

True. He is still walking too many guys to make me feel comfortable but it has been better

Hold on to this one and we lost what, one game to the Reds during this little losing streak?

Yep, one game over the last 10 games. Went from 9.5 back to 8.5 back.

Even if the trend continues they just don't have enough time anymore. I'm starting to breath pretty easily as far as the central is concerned.

The reds are 2 and 4 in their last 6 series - losing to the cubs marlins Brewers and braves. They also kicked off this stretch losing a one game series to Cleveland but I didn't count that

Thanks for posting. It does appear that the Reds are going to backslide into the playoffs because the Padres are somehow performing even poorer than the Reds are. The Reds had a favorable schedule and did little with it.

You know the Cards are looking at that series as their chance too. That is going to be a dog fight for the Reds.

I’ve been holding off on gushing over this team all year

1. I don’t want to jinx it and I believe in jinxes

2. I also have a little Lou holtz in me. I poor mouth everything

But this team has the formula to win the whole thing. I would like to see the lineup be consistent when October rolls around. No more nagging injuries

But with the starters and the relievers we can roll out if we can score runs consistently………

I don’t want to jinx it

The Reds have a couple sweeps that have bumped up their record but as I have posted before their starting pitching and bullpen have just been too erratic for a sustained winning streak. They are overly dependant on their lineup

I don't think they will but I would just go with Hader even with a 4 run lead. Reds lose, chance to go up by 8.5, lock down the wins now so you don't need them 3 weeks for now.

Especially with a four game set against the giants next

By my count they have been 16-11 in August for a .593 winning percentage. So they are doing fine. Its just not a rate that will get them the division.

Man Boxberger has been a great pickup.

So has Strickland.

Not only is it amazing to think where the Brewers might be without them, it's also amazing that they were acquired for simply cash and were basically given away or not pursued by other teams.

I think a game like this is basically a save situation. A win means enough that you don't mess around with a 4-run lead just because it isn't a 3-run lead.

If you were going to bring in Harder after one baserunner, what's the point in waiting? Guy hasn't pitched in 3 days.

Yup. If you're going to get him up and warming, just use him. Which they did, and we gained a game on the Reds because they didn't goof around using the front end of the bullpen.

They started the month 6-1. Have been 10-10 since. Not that great

Ashby’s first win of at least 299 more for us. should be a fun series in San Fran now that we have a bullpen unlike the previous series.
