I usually don't start scoreboard watching till September 1, but we're close enough. The Reds are currently getting shut-out 2-0, with one hit against the Marlins in the bottom of the 7th.

The Reds were supposed to sweep the Marlins. We might have been misinformed.

Were we also misinformed about the Brewers winning a series in Minnesota?

I was the one that said don't sleep on the Twins. They've been basically a few games under .500 since May, and are 2nd in the AL in homers. It's MLB, nobody (and I mean nobody) should ever count on a sweep or even a series win. Just go out and play the games.

I get that you are going to give the Reds a chance until they are mathematically eliminated, but their route to a division title is getting pretty perilous at this point.

Who predicted that. The only mention I remember were one warning the Twind hadn't been playing all that bad and would be a challenge and another mentioning this looked like a trap series. I think you are making a straw-man argument here.

The Cardinals are closer to them than they are to us. My guess is they are far more worried about holding on to that WC slot than they are about the division given the Cards are their next opponent.

Has anyone heard anything about peralta? I know they made it sound precautionary when he went on dl. Is he throwing? Is he back on track to start soon?

He threw a bullpen session on Friday and it went well. I think they're hoping to get him back next weekend.

It’s now to the point where if the Brewers don’t win the division it will have a lot more to do with the Brewers than the Reds. For instance even if the Brewers just completely tread water and finish 16-15 (assuming they pull out today’s game), then the Reds would have to go 25-5 to win the division outright, and 24-6 to force a game 163. It’s going to take a Milwaukee collapse to give the Reds any life at this point.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I know it must be killing you to see the Brewers continue to look like they’re gonna hold off the Reds for this tight divisional race but there is still plenty of room back on the Brewers bandwagon anytime you want to jump back on.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Unless you play the pirates

Just came back to beat Cards with 3 in the 9th…

Ha, and they've won 6 of their last 10 now, including 4 wins against the Cards. It's baseball, the best teams will lose over 50 games, the worst teams will win over 50 games. Pitching matchups, hot streaks, cold streaks, and luck will prevent anything from being predictable for any individual game or short stretch of games. The Brewers are in a very good spot right now and it'll be tough for a team to catch up to them at this point regardless of each teams' opponents over the next month. Just stay healthy and avoid a complete collapse and we should be enjoying another fun return to the playoffs!
