That’s vintage Yelich right there. Need to find a way to get a big 2 out RBI

Since August 11th Yelich is now 22-for-61 (.361 BA) with 6 doubles, 2 home runs, and 6 walks. If he keeps trending in the right direction over the coming weeks I’ll feel really good about this lineup come playoff time.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I definitely want Rowdy back next year. I'm also not definitely sold that Rowdy is and should 100% be counted on to be our 1st baseman. That being said, I think the last few weeks was just a normal slump a guy goes through over the course of a season.

I'd love to know early in the off-season whether or not we'll have the DH full time in the NL next year.

I usually don't start scoreboard watching till September 1, but we're close enough. The Reds are currently getting shut-out 2-0, with one hit against the Marlins in the bottom of the 7th.

The Reds were supposed to sweep the Marlins. We might have been misinformed.

Agreed with mostly. I'm ok with giving Rowdy some opportunities, with the understanding that the answer at 1B in the future might not be him.

Pretty weak IMO to ask after one homerun if the "Rowdy whiners" will stop. Rowdy may have some untapped upside, but big picture, he's been about a replacement level player for his career. He still has some proving to do to be viewed as a future 1B, and I think it's okay to speculate that there may be better options at 1B going forward.

Next year is a near lock to be the 12th consecutive season the Brewers have had a different opening day first baseman. At this point taking a chance on someone like Rowdy possibly being a multi-year solution at the position seems worth a try (especially with the lack of current internal options in the farm system).

It's eqaually weak to say the honeymoon is over after a 30 AB sample size as you did in the IGT the other day.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Ashby's ERA was 51.00 after that first appearance. It's now 3.09.

I don't normally like to compare/say "this guy could be this years X", but I have a feeling Ashby is going to be this year's version of 2018 Corbin Burnes when playoff time comes around.

I like the way we're developing starters now by breaking them in, using them in the pen, using them in a multi-use role (kinda like how the Cardinals have done), instead of just bringing them up, throwing them into the fire and saying "here ya go".

I won't say this is the reason our guys are seeing the success they have, but I am, and have always been a fan of the approach.
