Do I need to apologize for getting greedy? Taking the first two of this series was a sucker punch to the Reds' division hopes, but winning today would be a full-on curb stomping. How about one of those out-of-nowhere 7-inning, 1 ER starts from Anderson today?

We had a massive matchup advantage both of the first 2 games(it's going to be tough not to have an advantage with Woodruff/Burnes on the mound). Today, clearly the Reds have the matchup advantage. I just kinda have a feeling Castellanos is going to hit 2 dingers and ruin the game for us. Here's hoping I'm wrong. Also Gray has looked a bit more human than usual this year so maybe we win one 8-5 or something, I think we need at least 4-5 runs to have a chance today.

Reds are really blowing a chance to create breathing room in the WC race. While many of the other teams vying for that spot have also lost the last two days, it was a good chance to create more than a game of separation. If they would have won the last two days they would have a 3 game lead and put the Phillies back 7/the Mets back 9. Instead they sit 1 ahead of the Padres and the Cardinals are still quietly 3.5 back.

The Reds have the inside track because of schedule. The Padres have 10 games over the next 3 weeks against the Dodgers, Astros, and Giants. That's a yikes, especially considering the layups the Reds have. Hard to see the Reds not running away with the wildcard over the next couple weeks.

Eh. Look at the batter v pitcher matchups. Small samples abound, but I'm pretty confident this is a win.

Unclear that we have a match-up disadvantage. The Reds have the second-worst wRC+ in the NL (third worst in MLB) against LHP this season. I'm expecting to see a lot of weak contact off Anderson.

Be a goldfish didn't work. It's just "Thursday matinee" today.

I don't think the Reds have much to worry about - the Pads might not win another game. Tingler pinch ran and pinch hit for position players in the 10th and then didn't double switch the PR even though that left him with no position players on the bench. The Pads had 3 pitchers bat in extras in walk-off situations, twice with the bases loaded. He also left in the one reliever who gave up runs for another inning, where he gave up 2 more, after pulling the previous 6 after 1 scoreless.

I think he could be fired for last night alone, like Yost in 2008 after the Phillies series.

I’m going to make the uncanniest of predictions… today will be known as the JBJ game. I have a strange feeling he’s going to make some valuable contributions today.

Sadly, his best contributions are the games that he does not touch a bat... Even when that means he is on the bench. :)

Pretty sure that's exactly why he called it "the uncanniest of predictions" and said he has "a strange feeling". I've learned to expect the unexpected with this team, though.

If you completely eliminate the whole "bat" part of the game, JBJ is one of the best players in baseball. It's just the "bat" thing is kinda critical, and he's so bad at it.

If there is a game I might think of not watching to get things done around the house, as it feels like a Brewers loss, it's one started by Brett Anderson.

The funny thing is that there have been plenty of seasons where Anderson would have been one of the top two starters on the team, if not the #1 guy.

and thankfully, that is no longer the case...

Alright...lets not exaggerate.

I would probably struggle to find a year where he would be the #2 guy. Though he would probably be closer than you would like.

I think he is right though, especially when he says "top two."
