2021-08-24: Reds (Mahle) at Brewers (Burnes) [Brewers win, 7-4 -- Crew scores 6 unanswered runs in comeback victory]

Good work by Wong getting to 3rd on that.

Wong has been making a difference on the bases lately.

Yep. If he doesn't tag on Yelich's fly he doesn't score on Wong's fly. Nice when you can get two runs off two outs.

Finish this out. Would be a huge win.

If they hold on and win this.... maybe I'm reading too much into it with this much season left, but that's gotta be some air let outta cincy's tires. 4-1 lead in the 7th, cutting the division lead by a game, with 2 more games against the div leaders.... instead a 4 run meltdown in the 7th and they lose a game? I know we gotta hang on and win this thing, but that inning is a huge swing right now.

We have to be near the bottle against starting pitching and near the top

Against relievers in almost every offensive category. Weird. That could mean they’re just thinking too much early and not attacking. At least

My guess.

I was thinking along the same lines. A Brewers win tonight really puts some pressure on the Reds to feel like they need to win the next two [to keep their division hopes afloat]. Of course, the Reds are currently in the catbird seat for the consolation prize of the second wild card.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

If San Diego hadn't just completely collapsed the last 2 weeks I'd agree this could be a crushing loss, but I think that having caught one team for a playoff spot relieves a lot of the tension. They might still talk about trying for the division, but there is a consolation to make it not seem nearly so dire.

Agreed, if I’m a Reds fan I’m feeling pretty good about the playoffs. Nobody expects them to pass Milwaukee. Even a sweep leaves a 4.5 deficit which is hard to overcome.

I know, "Hader is the closer", but would almost have rather he be pitching to the lefties Votto and Moustakas, and let Williams get the 9th against the bottom of the order. Of course, if guys get on, it gets a little hairy when it comes back around.

I get what you are saying, but both Williams and Hader, especially with the way they have pitched lately, are pretty matchup proof.
