Hoby Milner in to face the heart of the lineup. Probably going to see he Nats cut into the lead here.

Sold cold taking right there. Nice work.

That's why I said probably.

If you could have just waited one more inning...

Hader enters as another game approaches the 4 hour mark.

At least he only has to get one out today, but like yesterday I don’t like the looming prospect of facing Josh Bell as the tying run. It shouldn’t happen when you enter the ninth with 5 and 6 run leads.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Off day tomorrow so no biggie to use Hader to get one out.

The good news is that with the off day tomorrow pretty much everyone should be available on Tuesday. But it would be helpful if Burnes and/or Woodruff can go at least 6 innings this week.

The Reds series starts a stretch of 16 games in 16 days and it will be hard to get through that using 5 or 6 pitchers every game.

Stearns has done alot of things right this year but losing Bickford for nothing while keeping Milner and Yardley is a bad look.

I am still way more annoyed about Knebel than Bickford since that was about money but yeah if those 2 are key relievers on the Dodgers playoff roster it has potential to bite us.

Nice win, keep the Reds 7.5 back and keep putting series wins in our pocket like this and we may be relaxing mid September.

Maybe they will call up Vogelbach?

60 days is up tomorrow I think…was placed on the IL on June 23 and he was in the Nashville lineup yesterday…..I’d prefer a right handed hitter but he might be an option.

Are two LHH first base only guys going to be on the roster? I doubt it.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Yeah, letting a guy that would have been like our 4th or 5th best reliever slip through the cracks is a preeeetttyy bad look.

Here are some things I would consider worse looks...

The Yankees spending like 100 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Mets spending like 95 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Phillies spending like 90 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Nationals spending like 85 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Angels & Red Sox spending like 80 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Padres spending like 75 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Cardinals spending like 60 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Cubs spending like 40 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Blue Jays spending like 35 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the White Sox spending like 30 million more dollars to win fewer games than us in an even weaker division, the Braves spending like 30 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Twins spending like 25 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Reds spending like 20 million more dollars to in most likelihoods end up winning fewer games than us, the Orioles having a .311 winning percentage, the DBacks having a .331 winning percentage (with an opening day payroll only like 5 million below ours), the Rangers having a .350 winning percentage (also with an OD payroll only like 5 million below ours), the Pirates having a .358 winning percentage, the Marlins having a .408 winning percentage, the Royals having a .443 winning percentage, the Rockies having a .463 winning percentage (with a higher OD payroll than ours), the Indians barely even cracking 50 million in payroll at all.

It’s probably OK to be very happy about the job Stearns and the team has done yet still have discussions about the moves that didn’t pan out so great.
