Today’s Nationals starter, LHP Sean Nolin was originally drafted by the Brewers in the 50th round of the 2008 draft (but not signed). He did sign a free agent contract with the Brewers back in 2016, but underwent Tommy John surgery that season. Despite being in the Brewers organization for both the 2016 and 2017 seasons, he never threw a pitch in a minor league game for the Brewers.

Prior to this season Nolin hadn’t appeared in a major league game since 2015. His only other appearance this season was a start on August 12th versus the Mets in which he last 3.0 IP while allowing 8 hits, 4 runs, 0 walks, with 2 strikeouts. He threw 51 pitches in that outing. At Triple-A this season he’s thrown 47.1 IP with a 3.80 ERA, 1.289 WHIP, and a K/9 rate of 9.9.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

eventually, they have to hit a recently promoted or crappy lefty. They have a good lineup for it. let it finally be today.

I said this on Friday while they were getting dominated by Corbin, but I hope they just play their best bats regardless of splits. Whatever they’ve been doing against lefty starters hasn’t been working well anyway so might as well try something different. And that means starting Yelich, Wong, Omar, etc.

They are going to give guys like Yelich and Wong days off from time to time…….it’s not like they are platooning them.

Omar has been so bad against lefties you actually are getter off playing Manny…..plus a catcher isn’t going to play every day.

It is what it is…….we haven’t been good against lefty starters…..at this point in the season you are what you are.

If we face one in the playoffs Wong and Yelich will both start……Omar might might be a different story.

Bummer on Sanchez. Dude quickly went from being a trusted member of the bullpen to AAA. I was hoping he was the real deal. But if you can't protect a 5 run lead in the ninth.....

On the other hand hopefully that is the last we see if Yardley. I always thought he was smoke and mirrors.

I was wondering what they were going to do today when Houser leaves after 3-4 innings, bringing Ashby up makes sense. Is there any significance to Vogelbach going to the 60 day?

They needed a 40 man roster spot……my guess is it’s just a procedural move so,they don’t have to release someone else.

Crappy lefty starter, Houser likely on a limited pitch count, burned through all the relievers yesterday...not feeling great about this one. Hopefully its one of those unexpected 12-2 type wins.

Feeling better now? Nice start with a Wong long ball
