I don’t think it will be too long before we see Frelick in Appleton.

Really has been impressive so far that's for sure.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Box: ACL Brewers Blue 5, ACL Brewers Gold 2, seven innings

For the victorious Navy squad, now 12-21 --

More Tyler Black! How does a 1.750 OPS sound after three games? The LH-bat smoked a line drive HR to right to lead off the game for his initial pro round-tripper. He would later walk twice.

Speaking of LH bats, 18-year-old Venezuelan OF Luis Medina was 2-for-4 as the DH. Medina was the prize of the 2019 July 2nd signing class in terms of signing bonus ($1.3 million). Due to the lost 2020, season, this year is his pro debut.

***

For the Golden boys, now 13-17 --

Nice to see SS Eduardo Garcia back after a HBP scare, 1-for-3 here (.846 OPS).

CF Hedbert Perez 1-for-4 (two K's), that's 29 K's in 100 AB's. Guessing you can calculate his K% with that news. Only six walks, work to do...

Stateside debut for 19-year-old Colombian RHP Fray Morelo.

Better outing belonged to 18-year-old Dominican rookie RHP Jeison Pena, who stranded two of three inherited runners and then followed up with two scoreless, fanning four with no walks.

Box: DSL Brewers #1 Squad 9, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 4

Game tied at 4-4 before a five-run bottom of the 8th (replica of Am-Fam Field Saturday)

For the victorious prime digit club, now 14-12 --

Bullpen game! (Aren't they all?) Seven pitchers saw action. Hoping we see them all in MLB as Brewers or trade chips, but none of the seven have been standouts season-to-date. Successful here in this one, though.

Although both hail from Venezuela, RHP Kevin Briceno and 3B/2B Miguel Briceno are not brothers, but could be related.

19-year-old (20 next month) switch-hitting Venezuelan CF Rafael Martinez matched his 2019 home run total with one, a three-run shot in the big 8th.

***

For the Dueces Wild platoon, now 13-14 --

Oh my, Rafael Camacho!

The just-turned 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP struggled two years ago in this league (7.61 ERA in 14 appearances).

In 2021:

Eight games (one start, this game, five innings of one-hit ball), 22.2 IP, 11 H, 5 R, 0 ER (0.00 ERA), 6 BB, 19 K, 0.75 ERA.

Since we are working our way up the chain today -- must be the uniforms, the logo, because it doesn't matter who is wearing, the Carolina offense is insane, as Voice of the Mudcats Greg Young discussed in detail to open this Reviewing the Brew podcast, linked on this forum earlier this week.

Box: Carolina 15, Augusta (Braves) 6

Pre-Game Media Notes

Mudcats Win Fifth Straight, 15-6 vs. Augusta

The Carolina offense scored 15 runs on 10 hits and with the help of 15 walks in Saturday’s home win

SS Freddy Zamora drew four of those walks.

You just saw the Ashton McGee and Noah Campbell home runs embedded in the summary you just read. Nice work by guest play-by-play man Jonathan Duren.

Late Saturday night, MLB.com posted its "Top Prospects of the Night" and you'll want to check out the commentary on Frelick.

Wisconsin Pulls Away Late for Big Win in Cedar Rapids

Rattlers survive the middle of the game on the way to a 12-5 victory over the Kernels

By Chris Mehring

So much detail within, thanks Chris, for doing the tough work there.

Talk about contributions from all nine in the lineup -- three three-hit games, three two-hit games, even the only player without a hit, LG Castillo, walked and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

Bench players for this one - Joe Gray, Jr., Yeison Coca, and Nick Kahle, were salivating. Anyway, go back and enjoy the offensive lines if you hadn't yet.

Sure enough, 24-year-old RHP Nash Walters, as read elsewhere on this forum this weekend, is a minor league free agent at season's end. Somehow this is the 7th year in the system for the oft-injured early-on 2015 3rd round pick.

VIDEO Tweets: Well, you knew the Blue Wahoos were going to post plenty of action

***

RH reliever Braden Webb posted a thoughtful tweet postgame, but despite 54 K's in 41.1 IP, it's been a rather rough 2021 (1.48 WHIP).

Box: Memphis (Cardinals) 4, Nashville 3

Pre-Game Media Notes

Sounds Fall Short in Memphis

Dahl Smashes Three Doubles but Nashville Loses by a Run

***

"Down a pair of runs in the ninth, the Sounds fought back. Keston Hiura walked and scored from first on Dahl’s third double to make it 4-3. Then Peterson walked and Brice Turang reached on a bunt single to load the bases with no outs, but Redbirds reliever Kodi Whitley got out of the jam to finish the game."

Sheesh - here's the details on that:

Christian Kelley fouled out to right field.

Troy Stokes grounded into a 6-2 forceout, David Dahl out at home.

Pablo Reyes flied out to RF.
