Magic Number

bork
Just because the number is zero doesn’t mean that the Cardinals and Reds can’t sneak up and steal this sucker from us. I know the probability is now 100% but you just don’t want to leave the door open. Just have to keep winning.

Just like the Padres are preparing for the playoffs because their probability of making them was over 95%.

Please let me know your playoff predictions so I can make some money betting the exact opposite!

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

In my opinion your comment violates board guidelines about condescending comments directed at other posters. I’ll let the moderators decide that.

I find it pretty sad that this is how you choose to celebrate the Brewers mathematically clinching the division championship, but I’m not going to engage someone who seems to be more interested in trolling other posters than exchanging opinions.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Now that the Brewers have a 100% chance of winning the division, I think we can all move on from the probabilities discussion. Thanks.

I believe yesterday was the first time in franchise history the Brewers clinched the division with the final out at home. I keep seeing people compare it to 2011, but that really isn't totally accurate. In 2011 their win didn't actually clinch the division. The division was clinched when the Cardinals lost. Kind of different situations in my opinion.

The closest was the second half division title in 1981 that was clinched with a win over the Tigers on the second last day of the season. Because it was the first time the Brewers had qualified for any kind of playoff, being there was exciting.

Believe the new Magic Number is eleven...

th.gen

This is where the magic number thread gets really fun.

Ack-shu-ally, isn't the magic number twice that? Because they not only need 3-4-4 wins, they need their opponents to have the same number of losses. That would make the magic number 22. The win total is 11, I grant you that. And no, I am not high right now.
