I agree you invest millions of dollars in these guys to pitch and for them to get hurt swinging the bat is ridiculous. There’s nothing more boring than watching pitchers try to hit.

Like the one who leads all of the majors with 40HR?

That is the definition of the exception that proves the rule.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

He’s different from all the rest. He is an incredible talent that only comes along once in 100 years you can’t compare him to all these other pictures you look absolutely terrible at the plate. There’s nothing to say that’s your picture if he has a great batter can’t bet he can. You don’t have to use DH if you don’t want to or you can DH for another player in the lineup.

Cousins is 1 of 4 guys with >10 IP and 0.00 ERA, I think after today he’s taken the lead of the 4 with 18 innings. The other guy is on the Cubs, a race I’ve been quietly watching.
I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Ohtani is literally a one of a kind player. No one else like him exists.

RE: Peralta… hopefully the Brewers use of discomfort is closer to Rowdy Tellez’s knee “discomfort” from last week than it is John Axford’s elbow “discomfort” from two weeks ago. It does seem like they coin pretty much everything discomfort in-game, and we usually find out more a day or two later. Hoping Counsell says it’s believed to be minor in the post-game presser.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

It's hard to believe that JBJ could be this bad of a hitter. He's never been Tony Gwynn, but he could at least keep up a respectable line most years. He's actually had one season almost exactly like this before, but it was back in 2014.

DH discussion needs its own thread (which I'm pretty sure has happened more than once on this site). I would not be overly upset if they announced tomorrow that the DH will be added to the NL. However, I don't get the argument that it's bad for baseball, and any argument for the pitcher batting is wrong, end of story. Baseball has was pretty popular in America for many years prior to the DH being instituted. More offense does not make the game more interesting to me and arguments that it takes away offense are not ones that sway my opinion towards the DH. Mitigating pitcher injuries is a better argument.

User in-game thread post in 1st inning of 3rd game of the 2022 season: "This team stinks"

I wonder who has better stats since his arrival Escobar or Urias?? It kinda feels like Escobar has been trending down but could be wrong. Urias seems like he was just tapping into something and now he's on ice a bit. Not sure what the stats say but Escobar hasn't had a day off since he came here.

Just have a DH for SP and remove DH when SP leaves. This protects the valuable SP yet keeps the NL substitution strategy in the game. It’s an obvious move to me. Ohtani could be the DH and get his two or three cuts each game too on non pitching games.

Yeah...short of a tear or high-grade strain, I would hope 4-5 weeks could be enough rest to let Freddy begin throwing again. Even available out of the pen (or to throw 50 pitches), he's a major asset. I would think there are a lot of possible outcomes where this ends up okay.

Of course, the one really bad possible outcome (some kind of tear) is going to keep us all nervous until it's ruled out.

I think it would be a lot easier on everyone if you don’t get your hopes on Yelich for 2021

He doesn’t have it this year. At all. And it ain’t coming back. That’s not saying it cant turn around in the future but this year is done. He might flash a solid hit here and there. And maybe even maybe hit another home run

Holding out this hope that he’s going to tear it up this year is pretty futile at this point

Shoulder is still a huge sigh of relief as compared to elbow discomfort. Would rather lose Peralta for 2021 than 2021 and 2022.

This is true.

I keep thinkong of Jimmy Nelson, but that was a truly freak shoulder injury. Freddy just looked like he overdid it swinging....question is whether there was some pre-existing damage the swing aggrevated.

Almost No one has high hopes for Yelich this year. Almost everyone has hopes he gets a little better though.
