Binelas off to a good start at Carolina. RBI double in first AB
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Box: ACL Indians 5, ACL Brewers Blue 4

The Crew outhit the young Guardians 13-5, played error-free baseball, but fell, as they fanned 15 times vs. drawing two walks.

Soon-to-be-20-years-old (next week), 2nd-year Dominican RHP Alexander Cornielle walked three and threw three wild pitches in his four-inning stint. He has fanned 36 in 24 innings this season, however.

From Monday --

Welcome, stateside! 17-year-old LH-bat Hendry Mendez, listed at 6'2", 175 to start the season, was 2-for-5 (triple, single) in his Arizona debut.

And now Tuesday --

Mendez was on base four times, three singles and a walk, and was 1-for-2 in SB attempts. Goodness!

Keston Hiura vs. minor league pitching, it's something.

As per Gameday, at least four line drives vs. Justin Topa in his inning last night, including three consecutive singles that led to two runs, along with a wild pitch. May need to lower 2021 expectations and look forward to a prime 2022.

I'm sure most of you follow the minor league transactions either via our thread here or elsewhere.

Given all the recent publicity minor league housing gets, aren't we curious about the latest arrangements and such?

Now, only Carolina is at home this week, so it's road hotels (for now) at the three higher stops on the chain.

Holt, Valerio, Robinson and Shook all receive promotions; Murray, Binelas, Figueroa, Miller and Mort added to Carolina

But when you see this kind of movement, you wonder about the leases left behind, and what happens over the final five-six weeks of the MiLB season.

One would like to think the organization has a hand in all that.

It'd be a fascinating behind-the-scenes look someday at all the mechanisms that make roster churn like this a reality, smooth or not, supportive or not.

You have to wonder if Frelick will get a cup of coffee this season with the Timber Rattlers if he keeps up this pace.

Honestly, he should probably be up there already. He's proven in a very short period of time that his bat is way too advanced for both Rookie Ball and Low A ball pitching. Let's get aggressive with him and get him up to Appleton soon.
