It’s the first time Yelich has begun a game batting cleanup for the Brewers.

wRC+ at 101, probably shouldn’t be hitting cleanup with a slugging percentage below his OBP but I guess a game against the worst team in baseball is as good as any to try and get him going. Go Crew!

We have a day off tomorrow. Pina has been hitting the ball better lately but does Omar have to sit against every lefty? Really not a fan when we have to face a lefty starter.

.189/.302/.297/.600 vs. LHP

That’s why Pina starts.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Pina is at .182/.308/.418 vs. LHP

Probably worth starting him given how he's swung the bat the past week, but it's not like Manny is a vastly superior option.

Edit: Omar's career splits against lefties aren't much better than what he's shown this season. So I'm rethinking this.

We have enough of a division lead that I'm all in favor of resting guys like Narvaez as much as possible down the stretch. I imagine Narvaez will be starting every game of the playoffs.

Maybe….maybe not…..he doesn’t hit lefties well so they could go with Pina in those games. Manny’s ops vs lefties is 726…….Omar 599.

For a second my brain read that as Pina's line against lefties and was wondering why it wasn't in blue.

I mean a .726 OPS is considerably better than a .600 OPS.

Pina is a better hitter both this year and for his career against LHP than Narvaez is. To me it's not only not a big deal if he starts against every lefty, it's ideal. Take advantage of good platoon matchups. Avoid bad ones. Plus it's good to keep Narvaez fresh at this point in the season anyway.
