Tyler Black

Madhawk23
Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else, but have we heard anything on why Black hasn't played in a game yet? I figured we'd see his name show up on one of those AZ team box scores, but nothing so far. Is he dealing with an injury of some kind?

Ah....interesting. I guess I didn't think about the fact that he was Canadian and would need to get the work visa - since he was already playing college baseball down here. Good to know. Hopefully he can get this resolved soon so that they can get him into some game action yet this summer.

At this point wouldn't they rather NOT get him in game action, thus saving a minor league season before he needs to be protected?

I thought the clock starts ticking once the contract is signed...

Now, I think he'll move fast up the ladder, so it'll be a moot point, but the clock may already be ticking.

Yes, the clock does start ticking once the initial contract is signed..

Here is something to consider: there were no minor league games in 2020, but the year/ season still counted toward R5 eligibility/ obtaining minor league free agency/ etc....

This year will count for Tyler Black...
