It wouldn’t surprise me if Counsell tries to get another day of rest for Williams, Box, and Suter. That would leave Hader, Cousins, and Strickland to cover 3 innings if Woodruff can go 6.

Throw in Norton, Sanchez, and eventualy Ashby, and the bullpen could finally be back in order.

I'm hoping for any scenario that involves the Brewers winning 10-0 again...but this time with no injuries

When I saw the pitching matchups for this series, this game stood out as the one that the Cubs had the best chance to win. The simple reasons are that Hendricks has been known to shut down the Brewers offense, the Brewers never seem to score more than a run or two when Woodruff pitches, and the Brewers lineup may be at less than full strength if Garcia and Tellez both sit out to nurse their injuries and Narvaez gets a day off after a night game.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Have we heard anything about Garcia and tellez

Also I’m assuming Curtiss is out for the year

If he needs Tommy John surgery (which is probable), Curtiss is likely out for all of next year as well. Being a reliever he may be able to return at the end of the season, like what Suter did a few years back, but that is unlikely.

A pretty typical getaway day lineup. Happily these lineups are better than they were earlier in the year, but it is set up to enhance Woodruff’s status as the low run support leader.

I figured Narvaez wouldn't be in the lineup today with a day game following a night game. Same with Cain. Bummer that Tellez and Garcia aren't in there today, but with both dinged up, I get it.

Not real happy with Jace Peterson getting the nod in RF over Tyrone Taylor, though. He was pretty ice cold before getting a couple knocks yesterday.

Cubs Release Jake Arrieta https://mlbtraderumors.com/2021/08/cubs-release-jake-arrieta.html

It pleases me to no end that [sarcasm]such a standup guy[/sarcasm] like Contreras is basically left in an empty clubhouse at this point.

So ends the clearly over career of Arrieta. Quite a fantastic story based on his late arrival as such a dominant pitcher, and certainly a key contributor to the Cubs' mid-decade success. But based on what I've seen from him in his starts against Milwaukee, toast.

Josh Hader's only COVID symptoms were loss of taste and smell. When Eric Lauer got the virus the next day, they were able to stay in game shape catching each other's bullpens.

Are they threats to take Omar Narváez's job?

"I don’t think we want to," Hader said.

Nice to get Wisdom and Happ to end the inning in a two on, no out situation. Those are the guys that look most likely to hurt you today.

I'll never complain about 3 of 4, but these next 4 feel like a chance to pick up ground. I was hoping to be up 8 at the end of the day on Sunday. Now, I feel greedy.
