Pull Burnes and start someone else?

That would make no sense. He’s warmed up and ready to go and I’m sure they don’t want to use up several relievers that they might need tomorrow, especially if this game is suspended. Plus, if you use several relievers, all it takes is one having a really bad day and suddenly the game is close.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

As was stated to another poster, it should have been in blue…

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

On a serious note though, assuming he remains effective what's the call as far as innings / pitch count? Can't be more than six given they can go through Topa/Milner/Norris. With Hader back tomorrow as well, do they ever get greedier than that?

Well what would make it a waste is if Burnes goes out there for a couple innings, game gets delayed and then the bullpen comes in and ultimately loses the game. I would definitely call that a wasted start.

I suspect we'd be ok if burnes only went 3 innings and then rain delay. The bullpen probably could handle the rest

Have we ever had a better 1st inning? Score 7 runs then starting pitcher throws 4 pitches.

I remember scoring 10 against the Nats a few years back. Jason Marquis I believe.

If it’s the game I’m thinking of, Doug Davis got pulled because he gave 5-6 runs back before the fifth, didn’t qualify for the win.

They might have milner pitch 2 today since he's extremely likely to go back down tomorrow
