Have I mentioned how much I absolutely love that Garcia is having a nice year ... simply because so many here and other places were 100% sure that he was a terrible signing and a terrible player.

+1 for this and Narvaez. I’ve enjoyed it thoroughly.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Escobar does not look super comfortable at 1b. If this was a playoff game, I'd pull him after his next atbat for Tellez or someone with more 1b experience. I would also be inclined in blowout games to make a substitution to switch him to 1b to get him more reps there as he certainly could use the live reps.

This is one of the nice parts about having a decent division lead. You can gamble and see if Escobar gets comfortable at first and things like that.

It would be ideal to get Freddy through 6. Not sure it's going to happen.

12 pitch inning there helps. Cubs really want to see what Steele has. They want him as a starter. Will certainly take the free out...

Box, Williams one game

Strickland, Cousins another?

Is Ashby totally stretched out right now? Haven't even been paying attention. Just curious how much we should expect out of him.

Unless he loses it Freddy should make it through 6 pretty easy, and has a decent chance now to have a complete game.

At 15 pitches per inning which is pretty conservative he is over 100 after 6. No way he goes the distance unless he's got some extremely short innings coming up.

Ashby's last start 6 IP 1 h, 1 bb, 11 k. My guess is he pitches as long as he is effective up to maybe 90ish pitches max, of course the effectiveness part is probably more relevant based on his last start.

He went six in his last AAA start. He should be able to go as long as he's effective. Hopefully more than 2/3 of an inning.

I'm all four hanging another 3-4 runs on the board, and going with Perdomo.
