Any updates on Tyler Black?
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

2021 10th round 1B Wes Clarke (University of South Carolina) hit his first pro home run, a two-run shot.

18-year-old rookie Venezuelan second baseman Jose Caballero hit his first as well.

"Blue" LF Arbert Cipion threw our Gold CF Sal Frelick at the plate to end the 5th. Frelick (0-for-3) had just walked and stole second base.

The two hurlers for their respective clubs who finished the game posted the best lines, feel free to explore and click within the box.

Over his last four games:

12-17, 4 HR, 6 XBH, 26 total bases

That being said, it was all against the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers

Travis Shaw Homers Twice as Sounds Pummel Mud Hens

Nashville Scores 10+ Runs for Fourth Straight Game

***

Shaw/Vogelbach has led to a crowded Sounds dugout, but it would have been even without their presence.

On the bench --

Two catchers (Feliciano, Kelley)

Four infielders (Green, Kramer, Reyes, Robertson)

IF/OF Wilson, and a soon-to-be-returning Westbrook

Quite the difference from most of the season.

VIDEO Tweets via the Sounds:

Agreed, super pretty

Eight K's and zero walks for Dylan "I'm still enjoying the MLB minimum while on the 60-day IL" File.

Surprising he was brought back after a 54-minute rain delay. Clearly he's feeling well.

Garrett Mitchell sat Thursday, was 2-for-4 Friday, and then did not play again Saturday.

Not obsessin', just pointing it out.

Given the nature of this year's Shuckers club, Mitchell kind of stands out when he's in the lineup.

Team in a definite funk, especially at the plate.

FYI for T-Rats friends and family members, Beloit debuted their MiLB.TV feed Saturday, so subscribers can check out Sunday's matinee from the new ballpark.

Pre-Game Media Notes

Wiemer Hits Another Extra-Inning Walk-Off

Joey Wiemer hit his second walk-off home run in his last three games while leading the Mudcats to a 6-4 victory

AUDIO: Post-Game Interview with Manager Joe Ayrault

***

Somehow 2B Gabe Holt (DH'ing in this one) goes 4-for-6 and is a footnote in a game in which Wiemer's latest magic doesn't happen without Holt's 11th inning clutch knock.

Tweet: Baseball America's Josh Norris had his eye on LHP Antoine Kelly.

When the Mudcats win the league title, can the Cannonballers be acknowledged on the trophy? Mudcats now 19-4 vs. the White Sox’ Kannapolis squad, which falls to 26-57.

Box: DSL Brewers #1 Squad 5, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 1, seven innings

No-Hitter!

Does the organization celebrate or not?

"Ugh, we got no-hit today."

"No, wait, we pitched a no-hitter today."

Uh, doesn't count in MLB/MiLB's eyes anyway, seven innings.

The victors walked six and hit two batters in the seven frames, so hardly your traditional effort, especially by 19-year-old Dominican RHP Anthony Perez, who couldn't escape the first inning.

But kudos to 17-year-old Venezuelan RHP Dikember Sanchez and 19-year-old 2nd-year Colombian RHP Fray Morelo for combining on the final 6.1 innings. Morelo did not walk a batter and fanned five in his three frames.

The winning Cerveceros scored their five runs on only three hits.
