Rowdy contract situation is what exactly?? He going to be around a while??

He’s under team control through 2024 (so three more years after this season).

Same timeline for Adames, 3.5 years of team control.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Rowdy came into the year with 2.012 service time. He spent some time in the minors with Toronto. It may have just been enough to keep him below 3.000 at the end of this year, which means we would have control of Tellez 22-25

Can't say enough about the job CC is doing right now with the situation the team is in with all the missing parts.

Also credit to Stearns. One of his expected offensive carries was lackluster when he's not on the IL, the other a strikeout machine when he's not in AAA, and his top offseason signing is OPSing 200 points below expected. Went out and got Adames, Tellez, and Escobar in exchange for relievers that were backfilled from AAA and a couple of gift cards to the team store.

That was part of my initial math problem. Wasn't sure if that would be enough to push it back a year or not.

He’s done everything he can with what he has to work with, but it’s going to get a lot tougher with 10 games in 10 days and only 4 starters available for now. Boxberger has been used in all 4 of the wins this week and Williams has been in 3. They can’t be doing that every day, so the offense is going to have to produce more. Hopefully they can do that against the Cubs and Pirates, and somebody in the bullpen other than Suter, Williams, and Boxberger can fill some innings.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Counsell and Stearns are good at their jobs

And that right there is the simple key to a “small market” maintaining success. The GM and the manager have to be one step ahead. Stearns went out and got 3 guys mid season with over .900 ops since joining the Brewers without giving up much of note. Counsell picks the right spots. The gives the Brewers a competitive advantage over most every club that is only made up by other teams (Dodgers for example) with $. Now if Norris can get an out or two...

Presumably both Strickland and Cousins will return in a few days (hopefully by the middle of next week at the latest).

That 10 days is the minimum, so that would take them, I think, to Tuesday. But, who knows if they will cleared then and, when they are cleared, how long it will take them to be game ready after being holed up in the house for 10 days.

They have Topa, Ashby, and Bettinger (and maybe even File) as options to fortify the staff with the latter two possible spot-starters.

I know most aren't real high on Bettinger, but Ashby was pretty awful in his first start too and with the right matchup against the right team/starter (think: gutted Cubs lineup) I think he can give them a chance.
