Box: DSL Brewers #2 Squad 4, DSL Pirates Gold 3, seven innings

The Cerveceros trailed 3-0 after one, but a three-run 5th gave them the lead.

Three days shy of his 19th birthday, 2nd year Venezuelan RHP Rafael Camacho had a stellar middle relief outing. He stranded two inherited runners, then tossed an additional three scoreless with one walk and three K's. Camacho has yet to allow an earned run in 15.2 innings this season (although he has seen five unearned runs cross the plate). But his 2019 WHIP of 1.86 in 23.2 innings is down to 0.96 in 2021.

Rookie 19-year-old Dominican RHP Waldin Rodriguez walked (literally) the tightrope as he got the save, giving out three free passes in a scoreless inning.

One young man carried the offense here, and it was this year's big bonus signing, 17-year-old CF Jackson Chourio, 3-for-4, double, two runs scored, two RBI, SB, outfield assist. Lifted his OPS from .590 to .678 in his 14th pro game. Doesn't turn 18 until March.

Box: DSL Tigers 0, DSL Brewers #1 Squad 0, 1st inning, suspended

Well, at least you can see the lineups if you click.

There was Tigers walk, a lineout to center, a stolen base, and then the game was suspended with 85 degree sunny skies listed as the reason.

Was there an issue with one of the two umpires? Who knows, but I thought that may have been as good a guess as any as to why to abruptly suspend the game.

Been in transit, so quick and brief for these.

Brandon Knarr has K’d 45 over his last 5 starts and goes for his 7th win for Carolina:

Yet Ashby didn't get the win! You'll find out why within the summary of this very unique game.

RHP Justin Topa, inching closer to a big league return, faced just the last batter of the game. A bid odd use there.

26-year-old OF Mitch Longo was a bit overmatched (.528 OPS, 55 AB's) in the AAA portion of 2021, but he has raked at Biloxi (.875 OPS, 165 AB's).

25-year-old David Fry has had a solid year in the tough Southern League (yes, I called it that) environment. .818 OPS while playing six different defensive positions, including 20 games at catcher (detailed here).

Longo and Fry combined to reach base eight times in this game.

Snappers Bite Rattlers

Wisconsin commits five errors in 8-4 defeat

By Chris Mehring

Yeah, you never want to see "commits five errors" in a headline...

Thomas Dillard on base all four times up. Dillard turns 24 this month, and it's not like there's a first base glut at AA Biloxi. Get Dilly a taste of being in a Shuckers uniform soon.

The three Mudcats hurlers here are 23, 24 and 25 years old, respectively. Yes, it's low-A, but the Brewers will provide rapid rises if the guys take advantage.

The ACL Gold team is currently in the 5th inning of their game, and it's been a fun one for the international youngins so far...

Hedbert Perez: 3 for 4, 2 Doubles, 1 HR, 4 RBI

Eduardo Garcia: 3 for 4, 1 Double, 1 Triple, 3 RBI (Currently a HR away from the cycle)

That Carolina lineup is going to be a joy to follow next year.

Ashby was so dominant on the mound last night, sitting 96-97 on his fastball with that breaking ball is not fair when he has command. There wasn't even one barreled ball last night, and that includes foul balls. To strike out 11 on 60 pitches is pretty incredible.

Digging past Ashby's pedestrian ERA of of 4.48, he has a FIP of 2.68 and a xFIP of 2.29. He has an astonishing groundball rate of 67.2% up from 49% two years ago, you don't usually see that groundball rate with a 14.1K per 9. Ashby also has a BABIP against at .368 which explains the ballooned ERA. One thing I noticed last night is that it was nice to have Shaw at 3B who made a couple above average plays.

Good digging on Ashby. That heavy mix of Ks & grounders plus the Brewers IF defense should hopefully be a lot of fun to watch.

Ashby also got a mention in the Daily Prospect Notes at FanGraphs...

Hunter Greene of the Reds (who maybe gets called up down the stretch?) also has a blurb.

Any particular reason Tyler Black hasn't played yet? I know he's at the Arizona complex.
