Brault will be making his first major league appearance this season after making 4 rehab starts as he recovered from a lat injury.

Brault has had mixed success against the Brewers in the past. They never seem to score a lot off of him, but he uses a lot of pitches to get through 4 or 5 innings. I wouldn’t think he would be going more than 4 or 5 today in any event.

It would really help if the Brewers could put up some early runs and then keep adding on to take the pressure off Peralta and the bullpen. I would expect Boxberger and Williams to be available today if needed, but otherwise the pickings are pretty slim.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Hoping Freddy has a good one today… off day tomorrow is a mercy.

Anyone else feel the Adames error last night was harsh? One hot smashes to infielders are rarely called errors… unless the official scorer called it on the bobbled pick up and felt it was reasonable to get an out at 1st or 2nd.

Everyone in the pen should be available with off day tomorrow.

The Bucks game 6 has to be the start of this, right?
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

It’s very hard to argue that that isn’t the case. The timing is quite coincidental otherwise.

Even with everyone available the pickings are pretty slim. They aren’t in a good position to nurse a small lead through 3 plus innings like they did on Sunday. For the foreseeable future, the starting pitchers and offense are going to have to carry the day.

It's actually really to easy to argue it's not - mainly because so many people I know have started testing positive for COVID with symptoms during this same timeframe despite being fully vaccinated themselves, almost all of which were nowhere near the Deer District earlier this summer. Frankly I'm surprised more MLB teams aren't dealing with similar issues at this point - although some definitely are and we aren't paying as close attention to them than what we're seeing here daily.

It could have started with Bucks Game 6 just as easily as it could have started with one of the Brewers picking it up just about anywhere else and bringing it back into the clubhouse. The timing of how we're seeing a symptomatic Brewer a day instead of 6-10 at once to me seems like it's being passed along here and there over time between teammates and not the result of all of them being exposed simultaneously.

I have no memory of Vinnie Rottino as a Brewer.

Edit: Just looked him up. 18 games and 25 PA over three years. I don’t feel so bad.

He is a Racine native so I think a lot of people knew of him as he rose through the minors.

The Reds won, so the Brewers need to pull this one out to keep from losing a game off their lead heading into a weekend where just holding serve is going to be a challenge.

Castellanos is expected back tomorrow to beef up the Reds offense.
