MiLB.TV options: Only Wisconsin is on the road.

The Timber Rattlers have the pleasure of opening Beloit's new ballpark!

Although I know the game is being televised locally near Beloit, it does not indicate MiLB.TV as an option. Surely Beloit will broadcast eventually, but apparently not quite yet.

Box: DSL Brewers #2 Squad 8, DSL Yankees #2 Squad 6

18-year-old Venezuelan RHP Gerson Calzadilla has yet to allow an earned run (one unearned) in his first five pro outings, he retired all ten batters he faced here, stranding two runners for his starter.

This was the pro debut for 20-year-old Dominican RHP Braudin Ciprian - two runs in two innings, but unearned.

We are 16 games into the season, but playing time is often shared game-to-game. Even so, those OPS' listed in the box start to represent more meaningful samples as we move on.

Mitchell and Gray seem to be settling in after their promotions.

Box: ACL Brewers Gold 7, ACL White Sox 0

RHP Israel Puello, one of the three RHP's received from the Phillies by the Brewers in the 2020 David Phelps trade, finally debuted with the Crew with a scoreless inning. Including the 2021 Media Guide, there was no entry regarding injury status for Puello.

Brad Ford, then writing for BrewCrewBall, has some details regarding Puello (and the other trade pieces) in this August 2020 article.

The following five innings were likely the highlight of 2nd-year soon-to-be 19-year-old RHP Brailin Rodriguez' pro career. A similarly-aged RHP, rookie Jeison Pena, walked three, but kept the final three innings scoreless.

First-round CF Sal Frelick's pro debut was nice - 2-for-3, SB (one K).

8th round 2B (University of Minnesota) Zack Raabe - great, another Zach/Zack to keep track of - was 0-for-3, two K's, in his first pro action.

A dream come true for Raabe

3rd round 3B Alex Binelas was 1-for-3, RBI. Surely the Louisville product will share the memory of his 109 degree debut with his two college-pick teammates.

Box: ACL Athletics 7, ACL Brewers Blue 2, seven innings

Two more top ten college position players made their debuts here.

It was a degree warmer at the Athletics' site, 110 degrees. At least their game was two innings shorter.

5th round SS Ethan Murray (Duke) was 0-for-2 and 10th round 1B Wes Clarke (South Carolina) singled in two AB's.

Catcher Jeferson Quero (.980 OPS, 45 AB's) continues to live up to all the plaudits in his true 18-year-old season (19 in October), two more hits here, caught the full game.

2019 32nd round Florida HS pick Jefferson Figueroa (hey, a Jefferson / Jeferson battery) allowed just one hit in his three inning start - six K's, no walks. He also found time to interact with Brewers' Coordinator - Baseball Diversity Initiatives Junior Spivey (photo).

Pre-Game Media Notes

Weston Wilson's Late Single Key in Sounds Win

Wilson’s Eighth Inning RBI Leads Sounds to Series Opener Win

SS Brice Turang 0-for-3, one K, in his AAA debut.

RHP Luke Barker with the scoreless two-K inning for the save. #FreeLukeBarker

All due credit to RHP Josh Lindblom - not sitting on that $3M this year (or next). His 2022 status is confusing, he gets his guaranteed money, but do the Brewers immediately retain his rights come this fall? He could help the big league club now it seems (well, five days from now given this start).

The latest Nashville pre-game audio interviews, released on Monday via Jeff Hem's blog:

July 28 – INF Daniel Robertson

July 28 – LHP Andy Otero

August 1 – Manager Rick Sweet

Sweet discusses the now-suddenly overloaded Sounds roster, and oh yeah, he has serious respect for future big leaguer Weston Wilson.
