2021-08-03: Pirates (Kranick) at Brewers (Houser) [Brewers lose, 8-5 in 10 innings -- Houser doesn’t allow a hit over 6.1 IP and exits with 4-run lead; things quickly unravel in the 7th]

Why do guys show less patience than normal when your run means nothing and getting on base is as valuable as anything else you can do? Wouldn't you want to be more patient?

Beauty of the high fastball. Players can’t lay off it and yet most can’t hit it.

Yes, big problems with this current COVID-inflicted iteration of the bullpen tonight....but the Brewers still had bad luck/poor execution on 3 other key plays where had they had a bit better luck on any one of them they win tonight. That botched double play ball with Adames, the bases clearing double right afterwards that was barely fair, and Escobar getting robbed of a HR that needed to be 1' higher at the wall.

Sometimes you lose games - tonight was one of those ~40 built in losses on every team's 162....stinks but it is what it is.

I wonder if some of the hesitancy of bringing up guys in the minors during this COVID outbreak is to try and avoid bringing up guys who aren't yet part of routine MLB COVID screening protocols and potentially having them make the current outbreak worse. At this point I'm guessing we'll see some of those AAA arms brought up since the current bullpen is both gassed and not good at pitching right now.

6.1 no hit innings, turns into 8 runs and a loss. That was about as bad of a loss that you can get. That is why it is a 162 game season. I’m a little worried about this weekend against the Giants with this decimated bullpen.

You guys are acting like this was terrible. Sooner or later the Pirates were gonna win one. We have a decent lead in the division and the Reds also lost. Let's hope we win today and we get a bullpen arm back before the Giant's series this weekend.

It was a winnable game and losing those always hurts but it also feels like the team was due for a bad beat. It feels like it's been a while since we've had one, maybe during the Mets series where they lost the deGrom game late? It's baseball, days like this happen. Hopefully the relief pitching performs better next time.

Does this loss feel worse than it really is since there was the potential for a no-hitter and the everything went downhill? To make matters worse, it was against the Pirates as well, who at this point aren’t fielding a true major-league caliber roster? Seems like this could be one of the worst losses of the season.

I’m not sure how Adames play could be called an error. One hop smashes to infielders are never called errors…. Unless it was gen on the bobble pick up and that the official scorer felt he was still able to reasonably make a play at 1st or 2nd.
