Brewer Fanatic Staff

Box: ACL Brewers Gold 5, ACL Rockies 4, seven innings

Rockies had been 20-4 entering this game.

Four errors by the Gold club led to two unearned runs, yet a victory.

19-year-old rookie Dominican RHP Andy Garcia pitched well in his 4th start.

Outside of former Phillies farmhand RHP Justin Miller, who got the save, all the Gold players here were international signings.

107 degrees at game time.

And yet the final three innings were scoreless!

Catcher Jeferson Quero is 4-for-5 in SB attempts. Nice to have 18-year-old legs, plus he was the DH in this game.

After scoring on a passed ball in the first inning, switch-hitting 1B/LF Erys Bautista, the author of a three-homer game on July 22nd, was forced to exit.

Hello, Stiven Cruz!

Making his 4th start, the 19-year-old Nicaraguan RHP tossed five hitless, scoreless innings. Cruz walked two and fanned nine. Always keep an eye on the pitchers that the Brewers have identified as starters from the very beginning of their pro careers.

17-year-old Dominican LF Luis Castillo, a LH bat, doubled and singled.

He also started a triple play, 6-4-2-4.

The "2" in that triple play was 17-year-old Venezuelan catcher Eric Martinez, making his professional debut. He's a young 17, too, having turned April 6th. Although he went 0-for-3 at the plate, he'll always have the triple play to look back on from his first pro game.

Walk-off winner, chicken dinner! Two runs in the 8th, two more in the 9th...

In just his 9th pro game, 18-year-old Yesbel Herrera (listed as a CF but playing first base here, positions often a mish-mash at this level) hit his 2nd HR of the season with one out in the 9th for the celebration.

18-year-old Venezuelan RF Eduarh Colina was 2-for-4 and is off to a nice start after 11 pro games.

No earned runs allowed in a combined three innings for two debuting RHP's, 18-year-old Venezuelan Jesus Rivero (one unearned run) and 19-year-old Dominican Erik Ozuna. Ozuna got the win as the game-winner was struck.
