If he’s not actually hurt, I hope he gets one more too.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I hope he gets some more chances regardless. Wasn't pitching bases-loaded bad until that last PA.

If he isn't hurt, he'll get more chances. Until COVID-19 runs its course through the bullpen, at least.

I mean a HBP and a Walk is 2/3rds on a pitching bases loaded bad. The singles may not have been all to flashy but that is bases loaded bad

Did you watch the game? Reynolds is a very good hitter and fouled off enough balls until he got HBP (no surprise that Axford is and always has been slightly wild). Stallings should have been out on strikes but the ump blew a call. Axford was locating his pitches well. The last PA to Gamel he may have been injured.

I hope he does not. At full strength, there should be no reason for him to be anywhere near the bullpen.

Kind of a silly statement if he is still bringing the heat and has had minor league success this season. How deep do you think our bullpen is??

That may be it. Would probably need to be healthy and get a chance to pitch again in the next three days, assuming Gustave is good to come back.

I never expected him to be anything more than a band-aid while we're dealing with COVID anyway. The odds that he was going to magically turn back the clock and be a big part of our pen down the stretch were always very remote.

The man is 38, hasn't cracked any big league bullpen recently and hasn't pitched at this level in 3 years. How good do you think modern day John Axford is?
