Tonight’s starting pitcher for the Pirates, Bryse Wilson, was part of the trade return from the Braves for closer Richard Rodriguez. Wilson was a 4th round draft pick out of high school in 2016 that debuted in the majors at age-20 back in 2018. He was among the collection of highly regarded Braves pitching prospects that hasn’t yet fully put it together. This year he has started 7 games for teh Braves and struggled for the most part. The most pitches he’s thrown in a game so far is 85 in what was his best appearance of the season back on May 22 versus the Pirates (6.2 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 SO, 1 ER).

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I’d love to see Axford come in for an inning with about an 8 run lead.

Brewers need the offense to take the pressure off the bullpen this series.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

[sarcasm]Told ya we needed a closer.[/sarcasm]
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Now that Hader is out too he may be needed sooner than later in high leverage late inning situations.

These next two weeks could be very pivotal, both on and off the field. I’d like to think this will be the last case, but it seems like this is making its way methodically through the clubhouse.

I would hope that literally everyone in the bullpen is ahead of Axford in the depth chart, at least until he shows what he can do in a low-leverage situation.

I’m kindve hoping the opposite. Let’s see what the old guys got!

They really need right handed pitching so he could very well see a high leverage situation with say two on and two out with a righty up.
