Cousins and Strickland have Covid

jandel gustave also out as a close contact, just as jace peterson was to christian yelich.

not sure if this qualifies as an outbreak. if it does, then the replacement players would not be subject to outright waivers when returning them to the minor leagues. thus, any non-roster player could come up as a replacement, be added to the 40-man (and 26-man) and when it's time to remove him from the roster because one of cousins, gustave or strickland, they can just return him to the minor leagues, without risk of losing him.

Just when you thought we might be in the clear. Here we go again. Can’t wait until restricted fan bases for playoffs.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Any idea why Strickland was not placed on the IL and is noted as "not available" on the telecast? Perhaps a testing issue, if he were to test negative in the next day or two he's good to go? Confusing.

Four days past Yelich's positive, so, depending on when both samples were actually taken, it's possible the exposure was simultaneous to Christian's OR from a separate incident.

For baseball purposes, I think you'd rather the exposure be the same, given that you'd be getting closer to the end of incubation.

I'd say baseball's COVID issues are partly Delta and bad timing and partly MLB's (legitimate, I think, given available info at the time) preference for J&J. Good news is, all these guys SHOULD avoid serious illness and be back in the order of a minimal IL stint.

I'm not sure it matters. The JJ shot was tested when more variants were out there which meant the efficacy of it wasn't an apples to apples comparison the the other vaccines. If anything it was wiser to choose that one because they knew it worked against more variants even if it wasn't as effective against it overall. I can see the argument that it's better to be protected at 80% of more variants than 95% against one and much less than 80% against others. Which was one of the possible outcomes at the time.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Hopefully there aren’t any more coming in the next couple of days. This already cuts into the depth in the bullpen that we thought they had after Friday’s acquisitions, and the bullpen has been used more the last two days than I would have hoped with Burnes and Woodruff starting.

I also hope we don’t find out that this originated from some players going to the final Bucks game and bringing it to the team. There’s likely no way to establish that, but the timing is about right.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Finally some good news

Finally, we get bullpen help from some old-timers who have been Brewers since...(checks notes)...June?

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled they are coming back, but it's funny how two guys who weren't even on the team two full months ago, are seen as the cavalry. Shows how loooong the last week has been.
