This one sure has the feel of pitchers duel, at least early on. Muller has been very good over his 5 starts this season, his only somewhat bad outing was a relief appearance in his major league debut back in mid-June. Outside of that he’s been mostly outstanding.

Facing a LHP, I assume they’ll try to get both Escobar and Urias in the starting lineup.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

With a RHP (Morton) slated tomorrow, I agree that this would be the game to give Wong a day off and get Urias in the lineup. Also use Pina tonight and Narvaez tomorrow. Cain, Garcia, and Taylor in the OF and they’re good to go. I doubt if they want to force Escobar to 1B just yet so Tellez should be the only lefty in the starting lineup.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

With Cain back, Taylor in LF, the pineapple hitting and Escobar this lineup is drastically better against LHP. It should actually be a strength going forward IMO. which makes the cardinals “big moves” even better.

It's probably a bit too soon to get Escobar AND urias in the lineup. I don't think either plays 1b. So unless they put Escobar in corner OF I don't think that'll happen.

I guess wong could take a day off but I kinda doubt that too

Stearns specifically said after the Escobar trade they would look at playing him at 1st even though he never has and that Escobar was open to it.

Right, I just think it will take more than 48 hours for him to be comfortable enough there to play it in a game considering zero experience there. Maybe in a couple weeks... That's my guess.

No time like the present. Play Escobar at first tonight. I don’t think he is a snowflake everyone makes him out to be. After all he has been a major league ball player for 10 years. I trust Craig will start his best lineup with both Escobar and Urias starting in the infield tonight. After all baseball isn’t rocket science or even immunology. :laughing

Craig Counsell on Eduardo Escobar starting a Major League game at first base before he's done any work there: "He's a baseball player. We're not sending a baseball player into a basketball game here."

Amen.

Good thing we have 2 new relievers but this is obviously concerning

Maybe hader can actually see some action now?

I love this quote.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Is Craig secretly hinting at a Richie Sexson return?
