I like this. More trading from strength - I liked Henry's progression this year, but Feliciano is still the catching prospect coming up first and the lower minors have a bunch of talent there. Awesome arm and four more years of team control!

Loving this trade right now. Stearns gets another under-the-radar guy with good numbers and relatively low prospect cost, bonus is that he's controllable for a while yet (although he's already 28 so we'll see, relievers are mercurial).

Pretty much all depth moves, hoping Curtiss can become a 7th inning guy this season along with Boxberger/Cousins.

when this trade is official, a corresponding move on the 40-man roster will be required, as it's currently full.

I am counting 40 after the trade so don't believe a 40 man move is necessary until Jace is back.

Looks like this is a fastball(95)/slider(87) guy and throws each pitch around half the time. I expected based on that arsenal to good look at his splits and see LH hitting way better than RH...but that's actually not the case. This year it's about even and last year RH hit significantly better than LH. So, this guy is just kinda weird. Nothing about his peripherals tells me he should be an exceedingly good pitcher, but his numbers the last couple years have been very good. I really wanted us to get a reliever better than Boxberger to be our 3rd best option and this guy appears to be that guy...

Looks like the official Brewers site doesn't list Kyle Lobstein on the 40 man roster for some reason.

thanks. i was going crazy after your post because i knew that the roster was full when jace peterson and christian yelich were removed, which put it at 38. three players acquired since put it at 41.

Thanks for that. I knew he profiles well, but I was curious for a scouting report on him. Sounds good.

The clue is Henry was sent out. He has value. I think Henry will be a legit MLB catcher, at least as a backup.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Seems like a great pickup and I am glad we didn't give up any top prospects at this deadline, feel like the system needs a little more time to buildup some value and with at least 3 more years of the big 3 we have time to make bigger moves later. Also glad we kept our starting pitching depth in tact, Hauser/Lauer/Anderson have been underrated next to the aces no reason to mess with what's working.

Unbelievable to think, but some very good performing relief pitchers plural for us will be sent to the minors in the next few days….. maybe even Cousins or Sanchez.

Reyes and Gustave maybe, and carry an extra pitcher?

Lauer maybe goes down when he’s not needed for periods?

Hate to see Gustave and Sanchez sent down.

The more I think about this trade, the more surprised I am it only cost them Payton Henry.

Right…. Henry has to make the majors and be above avg. to equal this. The crazy part is the years of control that the Brewers have Curtiss. Two excellent trades for Escobar and Curtiss, you would think on paper.

The control is huge. If he’s as effective as he has been this season for the next few years, he is a steal. Escobar was a big get that didn’t cost us anything significant. Very pleased with all the moves.
