Interest in the All-Star game?

The Crew has the 2nd best home record in the majors. The All-Star game could have an enormous impact on if they get to that level. I know I'll actually be watching due to this. Anyone else?

edit: missed Cleveland's home record in second place

I'm in for more than the usual. I typically watch most of the game every year, just checking out after the 5th and catching up on it in the paper.

This year, I may watch/listen to the whole thing. I may switch to radio as the FOX promos and general...um...broadcast waste product gets a little heavy after too long.

I'll tivo the game also and watch it at some point.

My interest in the game is kinda screwy. I'd prefer the National League to lose the game. Now here me out as my reasons are very thrifty, personally. Okay, and sorta self-centered.

My wife and I, as season-ticket holders (we pay for her dad and sister's tickets, but they are in my name), will definitely be attending the World Series, assuming the Brewers go all the way.

However, we are teachers in Arizona. So we have to fly on a semi-whim if they make it, too.

To minimize any loss of sick days, we'd prefer the NL lose the game so the Brewers would host the weekend games of the series. That way, we could fly up on Friday night/Saturday morning, go to the games, and fly back Sunday night (yeah, we'd miss game 5, but oh well. The dad and sister can have that game.)

We're still unsure how unused plane tickets work if we buy tickets ahead of time and they don't make the series. Anybody know? Does it vary by airline? Somebody told me I could just pay an additional fee to the airline to change those tickets to a different flight in the future.

Granted, we are going no matter what, so if the NL wins and the Brewers host games 1, 2, 6, and 7, then I guess we will make some sacrifices and choose which set of games we want to go to (it's tough to decide on guaranteed games 1-2 or the chance that they will play 6-7 with the chance we might miss any WS games completely).

I guess we could do both, but that would mean taking an entire week off of school, which isn't really fair to our students (especially with the quality/quantity of substitutes available in our district.)

Okay, I'm rambling. This is so far off yet.

Two words for ya pitchleague,

"Refundable tickets". (More expensive but you can change, cancel them without penalty, sometimes called an unrestricted fare,of course the rules vary by airline) - all the useless info i retained from my 3 years at the airlines.

If i remember correctly, you are up in Northern AZ in the Kingman area,so you would most likely be flying out of Vegas I would assume. I know Midwest flys nonstop to Milwaukee, and Northwest with a stop in Minneapolis. Out of Phoenix, there is Midwest and America West nonstop. Since I'm coming from PHX, I will probably just end up getting a refundable ticket come playoff time,in case they dont make it.

I would usually watch about the first 3-4 innings and turn it off. But I have to admit that I am excited to see that big lug Prince Fielder start. If we saw that big goofy grin of his in the past, wait until the Allstar game. His grin will be ear to ear. As will all the fans that sat at there computer voting for him and his teamates.

It is great that the promise of the guys in the minors sooner or later showing up is starting to produce.

I, for the first time in years, will be watching, even more proud to be a Milwaukee Brewer fan. Our moment is arriving.

Every year, my fantasy league holds an all-star party that is attended by most of the managers in the league. We view this as our GM meetings and it's a great opportunity for lots of trade talk.

Actually, we make a day of it and have a golf outing (OK, 2 groups) in the afternoon before grilling out prior to the game. This will be our 8th consecutive year with these festivities.

To keep the game interesting, we have a small money pool going where you put money in/take it out depending upon your player's actions.

Four Brewers players and a chance for home field advantage if the Brewers happen to play in the World Series

Amen.

Probably there will be a Brewer on the field most of the game.

It is interesting -- we have had 7 AS's in the the last 2 years -- none repeating.

burnie, that sounds like a great idea.

It really is a good time.

Last year it was pouring so we had to cancel golf and went bowling instead.

Here's the kicker for the microbeer loving types, we had our viewing party at Capital Brewery in their "bar". Free beer all night and we had the place to ourselves.

i am absolutely stoked for the homerun derby. i can just see prince planting bomb after bomb in the bay. they do say he puts on a show in bp. anyways, excited about the game too. i'd love to see a 6-3 jj to prince groundout, or how bout jj pull an unassisted double play. plus it means something to us potentially, so its exciting. still think its @#%$ and i know ill be pissed if the NL loses

Extremely high level of interest! 4 Crewers, & Prince in the Derby. I for one don't mind the random-ness of the AS game deciding HF advantage, as the previous system (alternating years) was random, too. Unfortunately (sort of) I play softball tues. evenings, so we'll have to hustle from our game's conclusion to try & catch the closing innings.

Does anyone know the last time (if ever) the Crew sent 4 AS's to the game?
