Bucks 2021-2022 season thread

Bobby on the Covid list now. The roster is looking mighty thin.

Man. Hopefully everybody is asymptomatic & able to come back once eligible.

If its any consolation, the next ten games / three weeks until we play @BRO on Jan 7th is a pretty soft stretch in the schedule with a combined opponents record of 100-186.

Prolly looking at a Jrue / Grayson / Pat / Nwora / Sandro starting lineup for Friday, which would be the Bucks 13th different starting five so far.

11-2 when Jrue / Grayson / Khris / Giannis / Bobby start, 8-9 combined for all the other starting lineups.

Bud went with the Flow of Regulation. With 2 TO's in the pocket, Bucks rebound the ball with 7.5 seconds left tied 103-103. Jrue takes it 1 vs 1 near court 3 point extended. Makes his move probably a fraction of a second too late. Rims in and out BUT it wouldn't have counted as he released it just just after the buzzer sounded. What a great game as a fan.

Boogie Cousins really stepping in and playing some good minutes right now. I know the Mavs were without Doncic last night, but still nice to pick up the win on the road without G, and see Boogie playing 20+ minutes in a back-to-back and really contributing quite a bit.

Also, it's weird that because of injuries and covid, Pat Connaughton has played 100 more minutes than anyone else on the team, and we're almost halfway through the season.

Yeah. Pat 1st, Grayson 2nd, 35 year old George Hill 5th, Nwora 8th, Hood 9th, Thanasis 10th & Semi 11th in minutes to this point, plus one game total from Brook/DDV, yet still sitting 3rd in the East is pretty impressive.

I've actually enjoyed watching some of the MASH unit games. Jrue has been especially fun to watch in more of a lead role, putting up 21.1 PPG on .549 FG% | .397 3P% with 4.9 REB | 7.2 AST | 1.4 STL over his last 16 games.

Jrue has played better since the playoffs. I know he had a bad playoffs offensively wise hopefully in the playoffs this year he plays better offensively as it looks like they are going to need him with all of the injuries.

Does anyone know why Grayson didn’t start last night?

He missed the last couple games getting a rest day after a back to back, then was dealing with some sort of illness, I believe.

Think they were just easing him back in last night.

Thank you. I don’t get the full story just checking the box score every morning. Looking forward to watching them on ABC tomorrow!

Welcome back, Donte

Great comeback win this afternoon. Giannis was pretty much invisible in the first half but still managed to finish with 36 PTS | 12 REB | 5 AST | 2 BLK in only 30 minutes.

Was also maybe the healthiest they've been all year with Giannis, Bobby & DDV coming back off the Covid list. Current ten man rotation (for however long it lasts) should rack up the wins...

Jrue / Grayson / Khris / Giannis / Bobby

Hill / DDV / Pat / Wes / Boogie

Obviously Brook is the big remaining question mark, and even if he does come back they could probably use another athletic PF in the big man mix, but I think the current version of the Bucks roster is better/deeper than the version that just hoisted the trophy this past summer.

Once Giannis got his legs under him in the 2nd half.... what a performance. Felt like a lot of calls and 50/50's were going the Celtics way the first half, and I felt like we were going to start getting some of that the 2nd half, but Giannis just took over the game late. Free throws be damned, dude is the most complete, dominant player in the game right now.

Bucks are 13-24 from 3 at halftime against Orlando. Portis is 5-5 from 3, and leads the team with 17 points. That's some lights out shooting.

Along those line, Portis shot an insane 47% from 3 last season. This year he has doubled his attempts, and his % has only dipped to 43%.

Yeah, Bobby definitely feels like he is a notch above what Brook provided on offense, but maybe that same notch below when it comes to rim protection.

Just looking at some various lineup combos from BRef over the last couple few years...

Giannis & Bobby 21/22 (391 minutes) +8.6 pts/100

Giannis & Bobby 20/21 (541 minutes) +10.2 pts/100

Giannis & Brook 20/21 (1270 minutes) +7.6 pts/100

Giannis & Brook 19/20 (1154 minutes) +17.0 pts/100

Giannis & Brook 18/19 (1494 minutes) +11.2 pts/100

Big Three & Bobby 21/22 (168 minutes) +8.6 pts/100

Big Three & Bobby 20/21 (146 minutes) +15.9 pts/100

Big Three & Brook 20/21 (683 minutes) +9.1 pts/100

Big Three 21/22 (271 minutes) +13.4 pts/100

Big Three 20/21 (922 minutes) +10.9 pts/100

I don't care about the Big3 in Brooklyn, I feel like fully healthy (that's a big if, obviously) the Bucks are the best team in the East.

I'd really love to see a Bucks/Warriors finals.

The Big3 in Brooklyn are definitely a challenge for the Bucks and I wouldn't say the Bucks are the definitive best team in the East. There isn't much of a difference between the Nets and Bucks. I think the Bucks hold the edge right now over the Nets. The Bucks were having a hard time keeping Kyrie in check before he got hurt in the playoffs last season.

As long as they keep playing the game with one basketball, I like the chances we have with our team.
