Bucks 2021-2022 season thread

reillymcshane

How is that the Lakers are able to add to their roster despite having 3 max guys? I know a few signings (Anthony, Howard) are probably veteran minimums, but what about the rest? Kendrick Nunn, Kent Bazemore, Malik Monk, Trevor Ariza, Wayne Ellington? That doesn’t even include re-signing Horton-Tucker for 3 years / $32 million.

You’d think after an early playoff exit, LeBron would hit the gym. Instead, he hits his Rolodex.

DDV will probably still be out when the season starts, so the SG rotation will be Pat and Hood until DDV returns.

With Hill back, the Bucks roster is now.

PG: Jrue / Hill

SG: DDV / Pat / Hood

SF: Khris / Nwora

PF: Giannis / Ojeleye

C: Brook / Bobby

Reserves: Bryant, Merrill, Kalaitzakis, Diakite, Mamukelashvili

Kind of figure Thanasis will be on the roster. Also assume Hill is signing a vet minimum contract which means the Bucks will have the TPMLE to bring in a player during the season.

Hill is the one recent signing that I’m not sure will be the minimum. Very interested to hear the details on his deal.

Not sure about Thanasis, but you're right the Bucks still have the TPMLE.

George Hill will sign for the minimum with the Milwaukee Bucks after clearing waivers. The Bucks will maintain their MLE and can look to spend that on high quality free agents.

Looks like Nunn was the Mid Level Exception. THT was a restricted free agent, so I believe they were able to go over the cap to sign him.

From what I can tell Bazemore, Monk, Ariza & Ellington all signed vet mins.

This guy is speculating that the Bucks will use the TPMLE on Victor Oladipo. Hope he's right because Oladipo is a player I wanted this offseason.

#Bucks had a goal: Sign two high level free agents, and fill out the roster with veteran minimums. Bobby Portis, and the eventual TPMLE signing fulfill that goal. One name to watch: Victor Oladipo.

Pretty sure there were rumblings about Oladipo last offseason too, worked out with Giannis or something.

Probably the highest upside of anyone we could get for the MLE, but could also be hurt & miss most of the season. Maybe Suki could work a little magic in that department.

Assuming we sign Oladipo (and assuming he can stay healthy enough to play 45- 50 games), where are his minutes coming from? Is he getting Pat's minutes? I don't like Patty's defense, but I'd rather pay someone who can be on the court and provide somewhat of a sure thing.

I think he takes the minutes that Forbes had last season.

I wouldn't mind the Oladipo signing but what are we getting from him? I am not sure what to expect from him. I guess Hill kind of had the same question marks when the Bucks originally got him. I don't think he will be as good as Hill was maybe he will be as good or better than Teague?

Oladipo had surgery on his quad tendon. Won't be able to play until November - maybe later. Plus he'd have to get up to speed physically. So you probably are lucky to have him for half the season.

For the taxpayer MLE, that's probably a pretty good risk to take. You need him ready for the playoffs. Still a huge comedown for the guy who turned down a 2-year/$40M extension a few months ago (albeit with Houston).

I'm automatically suspicious of a self-proclaimed insider with 246 followers. But I certainly hope he's right.

Looks like it's a fake, got my hopes up for nothing. A Bucks playoff rotation in 2022 with Oladipo would've been great, but unfortunately he's staying with the Heat.

Danny Green works for me, about as good as you can get for players still out there. Replaces Forbes offense, and gives you a little more size and way more defense.

Yeah, Green would be a solid add at this point.

Whoops. Guess not. Green back to the Sixers.

Green is a solid target but he was way above our TPMLE price range. Oladipo signed for the 1yr veteran minimum ($2.4M) with the Heat.

Looks like most of the TPMLE is being used on Hill.

Sources: 13-year NBA vet George Hill has cleared free agency waivers and now will sign a two-year, $8M deal with Milwaukee.

Yikes, what an awful waste of money. After the great Bobby Portis news, this offseason took a nose dive with the New York billionaire owners lowballing PJ Tucker, and now signing George Hill to anything other than a vet min deal (though bringing him back at all is bad enough).

Personally I think they could have done better than Hill. That being said, they needed a backup PG and he knows the system / team. 4MM a year is nothing by NBA standards.

You can't fault them for not signing Tucker, because of the luxury tax, signing Tucker to a 15MM deal would have cost the bucks 50 Million actually in taxes.

I think they had an OK offseason, knowing they didn't have to do much, as all of their key people were locked up. I preferred Portis to Tucker. Once Portis took less to stay, bucks had no choice but to let him walk.
