How does a ML pitcher like Liam Hendriks start his career at 90-91MPH and is tossing 99 10+years later?

He was a starting pitcher early on. Once moved to the pen he was right around 95 and is at 97.5 today.

Peralta was sitting at 90-91 a few years ago. Some guys add velocity as they're developing. He was also exclusively pitching as a starter.

by that tone based on Freddy's age and where Hendriks sat Freddy will be throwing 102MPH when his contract ends. Fangraphs shows his increase in velocity at age 26 and it's increased every season since at age of 32. Freddy recently turned 25.

Just find it odd that Hendriks who I get move to bullpen adds 3MPH, but then adds 2 more MPH after turning 30 still pitching in the bullpen. 9MPH more velocity since his first 3 seasons.

edit

and that one was 100.5MPH to Urias!

Are you comparing that across the board with other increases in velocity as well? They've also changed the way they've measured pitch speed in the last 9 years too. I don't think there's anything to see here. Liam is just good.

This team needs an rbi bat. Adames has been fun but you are going to be in for alot of 2-1 loses come playoff time.

+1.... Without a bat they're not going anywhere if they get to the playoffs.

By the way, the brats I hauled up here from Hoesly's in New Glarus. They're very good, but didn't quite have the magic in them today. I guess I should have stocked up on Usinger's instead.

Have you ever had hosley's bacon?

It's like a steak dinner.

For comparison's sake, take Aroldis Chapman who began in the league same timeframe as Liam Hendriks throwing 101+. He's not averaging 100 anymore since his age 29 season. Chapman loses 3mph Hendriks gains 4-5MPH?

Yelich having the 2nd lowest ops in the lineup tonight makes it very clear he's not that guy anymore. Stearns was patience waiting to see if he could find it and he can't so it's time. If I hear anymore about Travis Shaw and Vogelbach being back soon I will flip out. I am hoping for Gallo.

I think it's all in his head. The question is, do they have anyone that can help fix him?

If you don’t like seeing a grown man cry you don’t want to be around me after a Yelich AB with runners on base. It is so sad to see someone go so fast from someone you want to see up in a big situation to one of the last guys you want to see up.

It’s also sad to lose a game because of a walk to a crappy number 6 hitter and consecutive hits by a bum, a weak hitting backup catcher, and an American League pitcher.

A lot of guys in the lineup had a pretty weak hitting home stand. I hope Counsell rides Taylor for a few days until he cools off. He hit 3 bullets tonight, and along with the 2 by Bradley those were about the only hard hit balls they had.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

YES indeed. I have a couple pounds of it in the freezer in fact.
