Will this be Nick Belzer’s last Low-A start (he’ll turn 26 on August 1st; 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 5.3 K/9 in 44.1 innings)? He leads the Mudcats, who seek a third straight win:

Quite the outing for Patricio Aquino today. Both DSL teams are currently boasting strikeout-walk rates of 2.5 or better, which would shatter the Brewers DSL record since the team returned and both rank in the top six in the lead, albeit very early on. Hopefully the Brewers have managed to unearth a few gems with some of these guys and in a couple of years we're talking about Aquino, Miguel Segura, Stiven Cruz, Alexander Vallecillo or Edwin Jimenez rising up Brewers prospect lists.

Palma's Pinch-Hit Single Delivers Shuckers' 4-2 Win

Biloxi Wins Fourth Straight, Take Series From M-Braves

When Lucas Erceg pitches, it's a two-man bench for the Shuckers, one being the backup catcher. So Alexander Palma's pinch-hit appearance was indeed huge.

Brice Turang walked twice after we pointed out it had been a while.

Best part of this game, Brewers fans - Justin Topa. Garrett's note

Old friend Hunter Morris abandons his Auburn roots? Good gig, though.

DSL Brewers #1 Squad 6, DSL Cubs Red Squad 0, seven innings

Three pitchers combine for a two-hitter.

The heavy lifting done by 18-year-old (young 18, too, May) Dominican RHP Patricio Aquino, who has begun his pro career with eight scoreless (16 K, two BB's). Sassy molassy territory. Aguino did hit two batters here, but c'mon.

***

18-year-old rookie Venezuelan CF Jose Gonzalez singled three times, stole a base, and scored three runs.

17-year-old Dominican RF Luis Castillo, a LH bat, singled twice, walked, and drove in a run.

We talk about unique names here quite a bit, but "Jose Gonzalez" and "Luis Castillo" are pretty MLB standard. They won't mind in the show someday.

DSL Giants Orange 5, DSL Brewers #2 Squad 4, seven innings

It was 4-4 after two frames.

Only three of the nine combined runs were earned, eight errors in the game, five by the Cerveceros.

Home run #2 for Jackson Chourio, oh yeah, fire up the $1.9 million 17-year-old.

Speaking of 17-year-olds, Venezuelan 2B Jadher Areinamo had three hits, including a double to lift his OPS to .902 after his first eight pro games (one BB, 4 K's in 29 AB's).
