Nationals Pitching

If the Nationals do indeed sell off some pieces, which usually doesn’t happen, thoughts on some pitching?

Scherzer is obviously a tough one and unlikely to be traded.

2 names that come up is Daniel Hudson and Brad Hand.

Hudson owed $6 mil this year on final year of contract. Pitching to a 2.54 era in 27 games.

Hand owed $10.5 mil this year on final year of contract. Also Pitching to a 2.54 era but in 37 games.

Thoughts on these two names? What would it take to get with contract/last year? Either would be a welcome addition to our pen.

I could be way off.......

Scherzer- Lauer or Houser, Feliciano and a couple of lottery tickets.

Hudson- Quero and Milner

Hand- Feliciano and Cousins

Scherzer has 10/5 rights and his agent said he’s not willing to go anywhere without a contract extension happening concurrently. That means he won’t be in Milwaukee and likely won’t go anywhere no matter how the Nationals play down the stretch

I think you are off. Going to take more than what you listed for Scherzer for sure (not that he would allow going to Brewers).

I assume more for Hudson. Not sure how much value Milner even has. And it would take more than Quero, unless the Nats think Hudson is an injury waiting to happen.

Not sure why we would be trading off major league pitching in Cousins, so need to revamp that.

I love Scherzer but not sure why we would use our prospect capital on him when we have an unreliable offense and can already go into the playoffs with Burnes-Woodruff-Peralta.

deGrom is on the DL and the Nats are just 6 back. I don't see them selling.

Strasburg, Ross, Schwarber (and Gomes and Avila) are on the DL too, and they have to leapfrog three teams.

It's not their MO to sell, but if those three aren't anticipated back soon they aren't going to get there riding Scherzer and a bunch of 5-ERA starters.
