Final: DSL Brewers #2 Squad 5, DSL Mariners 4, ten innings

Walk-off win!

A Mariner triple scored the ghost runner in the top of the 10th.

After a wild pitch on the 2nd strikeout of the inning scored the tying run, rookie 18-year-old Venezuelan SS Alexander Perez earned the Gatorade bath on a line drive single to left.

We knew the hits were come. Top international signing CF Jackson Chourio had his first two base knocks.

Plenty of time for this lineup to pump up small sample stat lines, and this game showed a pretty balance effort throughout.

The three teen-age pitchers combined to walk none and fan nine, gotta love that. Junior Castillo one of the few southpaw's in the Brewer ranks on the island.

Box: DSL Phillies White 4, DSL Brewers #1 Squad 3, seven innings

All the scoring within the first four innings.

The two first-year pitchers combined to walk only two and strike out ten, continued solid mound work. We do know from prior summers that the island's offensive environment is not exactly Coors Field-ish.

First-year 18-year-old infielder Alberto Ciprian, playing third base in this one, was on base all three times up and stole a base.

Pretty quiet otherwise.

First win in a series opener, wow. 0-11 previously.

Nice Justin Topa update is within.

The Shuckers won despite some really nice defense by the M-Braves, which you can see via the home team's media feed here.
