2021-07-17: Brewers (Woodruff) at Reds (Castillo) [Brewers win, 7-4 in 11 innings -- Crew outhits Reds 15-5; Gustave pitches two strong innings in extras]

Eye Black
Casual 6 game lead over the juggernaut Reds.

If Boxberger is hurt so much for the vaunted bullpen depth it’s all rookies and journeymen after Hader, Suter, Strickland

Also sort of ironic, the Reds bullpen is terrible and they traded of Iglesias in a salary dump before the season

Between this game and the Bucks game, this had to be one of the most stressful, roller coaster sports nights I’ve had in a long time. All’s well that ends well, but it’s going to take a little while to wind down.
Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Reds' pen continues to be their downfall. Great lineup. Improving starting pitching. Pen is a dumpster fire.

I get the feeling the Reds and Brewers are going to be competing for many of the same relievers on the trade market. I feel much better about where the Brewers' pen is at, though, especially if Williams's injury isn't serious, and Topa comes back strong. Topa could be a hell of an August "acquisition".

Gustave is a keeper I guess

Needs a bit better command and probably a change up.

Seemed to be able to throw strikes. But yes, he only has one pitch. 97 with movement will play for a last man in the pen I suppose.

Wouldn't be surprised if Gustave goes down(assuming he has options) just for a fresh arm too.

Based on who pitched tonight, it would be Eric Yardley. Scoreless in his last six appearances in AAA, so worth a rotation I suppose.
