If Luna has another good game, I have to wonder if this will be the end of his tenure with the T Rats.

ETA: Mind slipped with regards to the time change since coming back to AK. Not the greatest game for Carlos. Oh well...

Sounds Walk Off for Eighth Time in 2021

Derek Fisher Delivers Game Winner in the Bottom of the 11th

Troy Stokes was replaced in left field to begin the 5th. First thing I'll check in those situations, hoping against injury, is an ejection. Not tossed here. Perhaps Jeff Hem updated later in the broadcast, but he did not at the moment of the move, just checked the broadcast archive.

Me, wondering about Mario Feliciano. Usually the Brewers' brass are willing to discuss injury issues when it involves a 40-man roster member. Hopefully we'll get an update soon.

I think they are still trying to chase down Derek Fisher at this hour

Biscuits Walk Off Shuckers 5-4

Longo Goes Perfect 4-for-4 For Biloxi

By Garrett Greene

Looks like a late scoring change, Mitch Longo now listed as 3-for-4, still a nice evening!

***

Only eight games in, but it's been a rough 32 initial AA at-bats for Garrett Mitchell. My goodness, players must hate the small sample comments. So sorry, Garrett!

On that note, we do a pretty good job here of highlighting small samples when they are red-hot ones, too.

RHP Noah Zavolas is consistently efficient, 80 pitches in seven innings here. Long balls have been a big issue in 2021, two more in this one.

Current Carolina Mudcats Manager Joe Ayrault was the skipper of the Brewers 2016 High-A Brevard County Manatees club that finished with a .292 winning percentage at 40-97. That's the lowest of the Link Report Era (2001-)

The Shuckers currently sit at .306 with a mark of 19-43.

For you long-timers here, you will remember the 2003 High-A High Desert Mavericks (42-98, .300 winning percentage).

Chiefs Go Long to Beat the Rattlers

Peoria hits three homers in 4-3 win over Wisconsin

By Chris Mehring

Finally a blip for Carlos Luna, but even when though he surrendered four runs (three HR's) here, some otherwise pretty peripherals - 5 IP, 0 BB, 6 K

VIDEO clips: You'll see the three HR's in Twitter media here, but we don't see the pitches from the CF camera view

Zamora Homers & McGee Doubles Twice in 7-3 Win

Carolina won its third straight behind a three-hit game from Campbell, a Zamora home run and two doubles from McGee

AUDIO: Manager Joe Ayrault Post-Game Interview (always good insights)

***

Let's remember that Kannapolis is now sporting the same 19-43 record as Biloxi, and that the Mudcats play them eleventy-ninehundred times this season. So just a bit of an effect on Mudcat stat lines.

This team. Catcher Zavier Warren and second baseman Felix Valerio combine to go 0-for-9 with four K's (Valerio walked), yet they still score seven runs.

Really looking forward to a future Zavier Warren big league debut behind the plate (yes, he's also a corner infielder), but there's been an incredible gap in MLB in representation of African-Americans at the catcher position.

Had you also noticed the starting Timber Rattlers lineup often includes four African-American players these days (including Thursday)? David Hamilton, Korry Howell, Je'Von Ward, and Joe Gray, Jr.. And they are getting guidance, very cool. This from the Brewers this past spring:

New to the organization are former players Junior Spivey and Quinton McCracken. Spivey, who played second base for Milwaukee from 2004-05 and was an All-Star in 2002 with Arizona, joins the Brewers as Coordinator - baseball diversity initiatives. McCracken, a veteran of 12 Major League seasons, comes to the organization as Special Assistant - baseball operations/player development after spending 2019-20 as the first base and outfield coach with the Durham Bulls, the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Box: ACL Royals Gold 8, ACL Brewers Blue 2, seven innings

Eventually Royals Gold will face Brewers Gold, and the sun will be bouncing off all that bling on the field.

18-year-old Dominican RHP Samuel Dario got the start in his pro debut. That in of itself is rare that it was stateside at that age. Only one unearned run in two innings despite two hits, two walks, and an HBP. So middle name is Houdini (not really).

So 19-year-old RHP Edrian Robinson is sporting a 94.50 ERA and 15.00 WHIP after his first two pro appearances, and you watch, he'll joke about that when he makes his big league debut in 2026.

Only three Blue hits, but of course 2021 stud 3B Jheremy Vargas knocked a triple. It's just fun to write "stud 3B" on a Brewers fan forum, doesn't happen often.

Blue squad now 3-5 on the young season.

Box: ACL Diamondbacks 9, ACL Brewers Gold 4

It was 8-1 after four innings, Gold club now 2-3.

Appears that OF Micah Bello, 2018'as Competitive Balance Pick after the 1st round, is about to begin an injury rehab with the Arizona Gold club, as per MiLB.com.

Bello, who turns 21 next week, was limited to seven games to start the season with the Mudcats, exiting in the 8th inning of the May 13th game, reason undisclosed to my knowledge.

Yes, indeed. Bello played CF and was 1-for-4 with a stolen base, and was lifted late in the game, as is normally the case first game back.

Hedbert doubled and singled. Can we go with just "Hedbert", like Bono, Madonna, Cher, Adele, etc.? I think we can do that.

Shoutout to 3rd-year pro OF Reidy Mercado (DH'ing here), on base four times, including a triple.
